| Text | In the following pages I have attempted to put in writing, while it is still fresh in my memory, what little information is available regarding the Munro family in Canada - or at least that Branch of the family that settled in the County of Lanark, Ontario. It is to be regretted that some deceased member of the family, more gifted than myself, has not left us a record of the lives of the original settlers. In the absence of such a record it has seemed desitable to me that the information which we now have should be put in some permanent form before it is altogether lost to the present and future generations. It is, therefore, my earnest hope that what I have written may prove of interest to some who, in future years, may chance to read it. No attempt has been made to write a complete history of the family, nor am I certain, in every case, that the list of family names are in order of age; also that the dates mentioned and the individual ages given are correct, although a sincere effort has been made, where possible, to confirm all information submitted. The greater portion of the material which is now put in writing for the first time (so far as I am aware) was gathered, on different occasions, from my father, the late James Munro, to whom this article is dedicated. While it may appear that little has been mentioned in the narrative about som branch or individual member of the family, in which the reader may be interested, the reason for the omission is due to the fact that I did not have the information and was unable to obtain it. I wish to take this opportunity of thanking all those who have shown their interest in the work by assisting in the collection and arrangement of the material contained herein. Acknowledging, as I do, that my attempt at writing is far from perfect, it is hoped, at the same time, that the reader will overlook any errors which may have crept in.
