"Hailesboro. Joseph W. Wranesh - St. Joe Minerals Retiree. Joseph W. Wranesh, 89, Southern Pines, N.C., formerly of Richville, died Feb. 25 at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, N.C.
"Mr. Wranesh worked in management for 34 years at St. Joe Minerals Corp., Balmat, retiring in 1979 when he moved to Whispering Pines, N.C. Born Oct. 16, 1916, in Hailesboro, son of Stephen and Frances Wranesh, he graduated from Gouverneur High School.
"He was a sergeant in the Army from 1941 to 1945.
"He married Georgiana Best Butterworth on Dec. 26, 1946, at St. James Catholic Church, Gouverneur.
"Mr. Wranesh enjoyed playing golf at Whispering Pines Country Club and spending time at his cottage on Trout Lake.
"Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Atwood, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Michael, Hailesboro, and John, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a sister, Mary Gorrow, Vancouver Island, and several nieces and nephews.
"A sister, Lena, died before him.
"A memorial service was held March 1 in Southern Pines.
"Arrangements are with Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, Southern Pines.
"Donations may be made to St. James Parochial School Fund, Gouverneur, N.Y. 13642."
