    John R. Jordan
    A life-long resident of Christie Lake, John R. Jordan, collapsed and died of a heart seizure on August 15, 1965. He was in his 61st year.

    Mr. Jordan was the son of the late John Jordan and the late Martena Miller. He married the former Mary Scharf in 1933.

    A well known Christie Lake resident, Mr. Jordan was prominent in the affairs of the area and held office in many local organizations. However, he was possibly best known for the summer resort he operated. Starting in 1941 with one cottage, he expanded his business over the years; many of his guests returned summer after summer from all parts of Canada and the United States.

    A member of Calvin United Church, Mr. Jordan was Secretary of the Board of Stewards. He was also on the Bathurst Township Council from 1955 to 1961 and at the time of his death Sitting Master of True Britons Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 14; Past Principal of Prince of Wales Chapter; Member of Gondemar Preceptory, Brockville' Noble of the Mystic Shrine of Rameses Temple; President of Land of Lakes Shrine Club; Worthy Patron of Royal Tay Chapter No. 193, OES;, and a member of Canadian Woodsmen of the World, Edward Camp 285. Mr. Jordan was also vice-president of the Christie Lake Anglers' and Hunters' Association and Vice President of the Lanark and Leeds Fish and Game Association.

    The many floral tributes, messsages of sympathy and donations to the Bible Society, The Ontario Heart Foundatiion, the Gideons and the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children indicated the high esteem in which Mr. Jordan was held. Hundreds of friends and relatives came from great distances sto pay their respects. The loss occasioned by Mr. Jordan's death is summed up by an excerpt from one of the many messages of sympathy, "Christie Lake will not be the same without his cheerful greeting and wonderful community spirit."

    Mr Jordan is survived by his wife; one Daughter, Betty (Mrs. Arnold Miller), and four sons, Robert, Alan, Lloyd, and Harold, all of Perth; also eleven grandchildren; three brothers, George, Arthur, anad Calvin, Perth; and two sissters, Helen, Christie Lake and Florida; and Sadie, Toronto.

    The funeral was held at Perth on August 18, at Blair and Son Chapel, Mr. E.V. Cook and Mr. W.James officiated. Mr Cook, in his eulogy, said of Mr Jordan, "Though small in stature, he cast a great shadow."

    Pallbearers were Wilbur Noonan, Kenneth Kirkham, J.P. Cameron, Dave Gardiner, Basil Patterson, and Ed James. Shriners of the Land of Lakes Shrine Club formed a guard of honour.

    Passed away in hospital, Perth on Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 at the age of 78.

    Beloved husband and best friend of Carmel (Burke) for more than 54 years. Cherished father of Philip Jordan and Susan Murphy, both of Perth. Loving father-in-law of Terry Murphy. Bill was predeceased by his three sons Doug, Dale and Gary and his parents George and Lottie (Keays). Devoted Papa of Kristi, Jason and Tessa Jordan, Adam and Alex Murphy, and Kyle Dodd. Bill will be fondly remembered by his brother Keith (Maxine) Jordan, his sisters-in-law Ella Pearse, Jean Jordan and Lillian Burke and brother-in-law Ron Irvine. Also predeceased by his brother Don and sisters Jean Bell and Ev Irvine and his brothers-in-law, Des Pearse, Bob Bell and Andrew Burke. Bill will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

    Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Friday, September 26th, 2008 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in Calvin United Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Scotch Line Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or Calvin United Church.

    Frances passed away, suddenly, at the Kingston General Hospital, on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
    Frances Dixon, of Perth, at the age of 80. Cherished wife to Eric for over 55 years, and much loved mother to Angela, of Toronto, Greg, of Pickering, and Graeme (Martine Gauthier), of Perth. She was predeceased by her parents, Calvin and Marion Jordan (nee` Palmer). Also left to mourn her loss, are her siblings, Isobel (Alvin) Paul and Mavis (Rod) Woolham, all? Read More ? of Perth. Sadly missed and never forgotten by her "sister", first cousin, Marion Cameron, of Belleville. Frances always had a special place in her heart for Madeleine, who will indeed miss Frances' presence in her life. Her family will always recall Frances distinct affection for her daughter, Angie's, golden retriever, Odey.
    Eric and Frances met at a square dance 10 years before they became engaged. Because of her love of children, Frances found success in her life as a prolific educator, with over 10 years as an elementary school teacher and over 25 years as a supply teacher. Her faith enabled devotion to the Calvinettes ladies group, service as a Sunday school teacher, participation in the church choir, and chairing the ministry and personnel committees at Calvin United Church, throughout the years. Frances will be remembered for her involvement in the Jordan sisters musical group. In addition, Frances carved out time to pursue her favourite hobbies which included gardening, baking, reading, and sewing. Lastly, she enjoyed photography; Frances could be found snapping lots of pictures at many family events and various social functions over the years
    Friends are invited to join Frances' family on Thursday, January 11 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm, at the O'Dacre Family Funeral Home, 15 Victoria Street, Perth.
    A Celebration of Frances' life will take place at Calvin United Church, Dewitt's Corners, on Friday, January 12, at 1:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Micheline Montreuil.
    For those wishing, donations to the following charities will accepted: Calvin United Church, KGH Foundation (Heart Unit), Golden Rescue (www.goldenrescue.ca)
    To honour her wishes, Frances chose cremation with a Spring Interment to be held at Scotch Line Cemetery, Perth.

    Peacefully, after a short illness at the Carleton Place Hospital, on Thursday December 5, 2013, at the age of 56.

    Loving husband of Cathy MacFarlane. Proud and loving father of Jamie. Dear son of Kelvin and Helen Rintoul. Dear brother of Evelyn (Reggie Campbell), Barbara (Dan Lee) and Joan (Mason Gillan). Bob will be missed by his mother-in-law Helen MacFarlane, his sister-in-law Nancy (Ken Hedderson), extended family and many friends. Predeceased by his father-in-law Don MacFarlane.

    Friends may visit the family at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 1 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the spring.

    For those who wish, a donation to the Carleton Place Hospital Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192 Carleton Place would be appreciated by the family.
