    While at work Monday morning on the foundations of Dr. Metcalfe's new buildings, Mr. Allan Gilmour took a weak turn and shortly afterwards
    expired, death being due to heart trouble from which he had been a sufferer for the past few years. Deceased was a son of the late Allan & Mrs.
    Gilmour and was born 70 years ago on the farm now owned by Mr. David Metcalfe. He and his wife , who was Mrs. Margaret Templeton, with their family, were residents of Almonte for a number of years, until a year ago when they removed to Ottawa to reside. Surviving him are his wife, two sons and two daughters; J.L. Gilmour of Renfrew; and James Gilmour, Mrs. J.A. McLachlan and Mrs. Lockhart of Ottawa.
    There are also 3 brothers and 3 sisters;
    Messrs John and Joseph of Almonte; William of Ramsay; Mrs. Jas Townend, Mrs. Whitcher and Mrs. Wilson of Carleton Place.
    The funeral on
    Wednesday from the residence of his brother, Mr. John Gilmour, was largely attended by relatives and friends who were desirous of thus showing
    their respect for the deceased and sympathy for the sorrowing family. Rev S.G. brown conducted the services at the house and the grave, interment being made at the Auld Kirk Ramsay of the Eighth Line.

    A well known and respected resident of Ramsay township passed away on Sunday Nov 28, in the person of Mr. Wm. A. Gilmour after a short illness from heart trouble. Deceased who was a son of the late Allan Gilmour was born in Ramsay about sixty-three years ago where he spent all his life. About twenty-five years ago he married Annie Yuillk, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Yuill. She survives with two daughters and one son, Misses Effie and Inez and Mr. Stewart to whom the sympathy of a large circle of friends goes out to in their sudden bereavement. The funeral took place on Tuesday November 30 from his late residence, 6th Con. of Ramsay to the 8th line cemetery. In absence of a Presbyterian minister, Rev. H.W. Jackson conducted the funeral service at the home and the grave.

    William married Annie Yuill about 1895 in Ramsay Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Obituary, Joseph Gilmour
    Another esteemed resident of Almonte for a long period of years has passed out of this life in the person of Joseph Gilmour, afte an illness of two weeks. The late Mr. Gilmour was in his 72nd year and was born in Ramsay Township, living the greater part of his life in Almonte.

    He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Johnston of Carleton Place, Mrs Wm Wilson of Carleton Place, and Mrs. Jas Townsend of Almonte. Four brothers predeceased him.

    The funeral was held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the home of his nephew, William Gilmour, and was largely attended by friends and relatives. Rev A.J. Fowlie conducted service at the home and graveside. The pall bearers were Messrs Donald Taylor, James Allison, Charles and James Moore, Edward Gilmour and Alex McLauchlin of Ottawa. Numerous floral offerings testified to the high esteem in which the late Mr. Gilmour was held.

    Among those noticed in the cortege were Mr and Mrs Alex McLaughlin and Mrs A.A. Gilmour of Ottawa, Mr and Mrs James Gilmour of Kingston, and Mr and Mrs G. Chaput and Mrs Fraser of Pembroke.

    Mr Jas A. Gilmour
    Many friends and relatives were present, Sunday morning at the funeral of James Allan Gilmour, highly respected resident of Kingston, Ont., who died on Friday, January 1st, at the Kingston General Hospital. The funeral was held from his home, Princess Street, Kingston, Rev H.W. Cliff officiating at the service and also accompanying the funeral cortege by motor to Almonte, burial taking place in Auld Kirk Cemetery. A Masonic service was held at Mr Gilmour's late residence Saturday evening when full Masonic honours were accorded. Several members of the Order accompanied the remains to Almonte. The late Mr Gilmour was born at Almonte, 61 years ago, the son of Mrs Gilmour and the late Allan A. Gilmour. Although in failing health for some time, Mr Gilmour's death was sudden and his numerous friends were deeply shocked to hear of his passing. Surviving are his aged mother of Ottawa, his widow, Jennie Thurlow, one daughter, Miss Jean, one son George Allan of Kingston, also two sisters in Ottawa, Mrs J.A. McLachlin and Mrs J.W. Lockhart. Numerous telegrams and floral tributes were received testifying to the esteem in which Mr Gilmour was held. Many out-of-town friends were present at the funeral. Pallbearers at Kingston were members of the Masonic Order and those at the cemetery were: Mr Harold Osborne, Mr James Ingram, Mr Mace Madell, Mr Leonard Martin, of Kingston, Mr Lindsay Thurlow of Carleton Place, Mr J.A. McLachlin of Ottawa, and Mr Hugh Thurlow of Napanee.

    James married Jennie S. Thurlow about 1905 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Jennie (daughter of George Thurlow and Euphemia Burns) was born on 31 Jan 1879 in Lavant Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 14 Apr 1950 in Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     " Miss Rachel McLachlin".
    Miss Rachel McLachlin, only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.A. McLachlin, formerly of Almonte, died late Thursday morning at her home in Ottawa after a short illness of pneumonia. Interment will be made in Almonte on Monday morning

    The funeral of Miss Rachel L.T. (Rae) McLachlin, who died on Thursday last, beloved and only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.A. McLachlin, was held on Monday morning from the family residence, 380 Cooper Street, Ottawa. The remains were taken to Almonte on the C.P.R. train, where interment took place on the arrival of the train. A short service was held at the house at nine o'clock Sunday night, which was conducted by Rev J.W. Woodside, Pastor of Chalmers Church, and which was attended by a large gathering of friends and relatives.
    The service at Almonte was conducted by Rev S. Gorley Brown, former Pastor of the Almonte Presbyterian Church, and was one of the largest funerals in Almonte for some time. Many members of the Almonte Presbyterian Church, which Miss McLachlin attended in her childhood days were present to pay their last respects to her memory, and many beautiful floral offerings were received by the family.
    The chief mourners were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McLachlin; her grandmother, Mrs. A.A. Gilmour; Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Lockhart, Ottawa; Aunt & Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Gilmour, Napanee; and Mr. Carl Valleau of Ottawa. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were; Mr. D. Legerwood of Arnprior; Mrs. J.A. Gilmour of Napanee; Master George Allan and Miss Jean Gilmour of Napanee; and Mr. J.W. Smith of Antrim. Among the many beautiful floral tributes were flowers from Mother, Dad, and Grandmother; Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Lockhart, gates-ajar; Mr. Carl Valleau, Chief of Staff of the Printing and Stationary Branch, Department of National Defence; Mr. Kenneth P. McEwan of Perth;
    Mr. & Mrs. A MacMillan, Miss Ethel Henshaw, the Children's Helpers Circle of the King's Daughters Guild, District W.C.T.U.; Col By Chapter I.O.D.E., Daughter's of the Empire Daily Vacation Bible School, Hong Ling, Miss Muriel martin, Mr. & Mrs. John Patterson, Mr. & Mrs. F.M. Young, Mr. Vivian Young, Mrs. D.M. Chambers and family, Mrs. John Reid, Mr. Charles B. Turner, R.C., H.A., Kingston; Mr, & Mrs Sid Chambers, Mrs. S. Symonds, Mrs. A Halkett, mr. & Mrs Charles Winmill, Mrs. F. Coulter, Circle No Five, Chalmers Church choir of Chalmers Church, Ottawa Woman's Club.
    Miss McLachlin was an only child and her death came as a great shock to her parents and many friends as was evidenced by the large numbers who attended her funeral.
