    Mourn Sudden Passing of John Miller Cameron ? The sudden passing on Thursday, June 3rd, 1954 of John Miller Cameron socked and grieved this community. He passed away in the Great War Memorial Hospital, after a very short illness. Mr. Cameron was born at Wemyss, 58 years ago, a son of the late Robert Cameron and his wife Ida A. Hanna. His entire life was spent in Perth, first as an employee of the Perth Shoe Company and finally in his established business in the conduct of which he won an enviable reputation. During World War I he was on guard duty at Petawawa. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, to whose service he devoted his talents and was always ready and willing to assist. He was a member of the True Britons' Lodge, No. 14, under whose auspices a service was conducted in the Chapel. He was also a member of the Prince of Wales Charter Royal Arch Masons. Unselfish in his devotion to duty, honest in all his dealings and a true friend. He is survived by his widow, the former Gertrude Fowler of Perth, and by his brother, Donald Cameron, who also resides in Perth. The funeral was held on Monday, June 7th with interment in Elmwood Cemetery.

    John married Gertrude May "Gertie" Fowler on 2 Sep 1915 in Smiths Falls, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Gertrude (daughter of Colin Fowler and Letitia Jane Hanna) was born on 10 Dec 1902 in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 1 Sep 1991 in Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
