    "Retired School Principal Floyd Thornber Dies In Oswego. Fulton. Floyd P. Thornber, 79, of 414 W. Fourth St, Oswego, retired school principal, died Friday at home after a brief illness.
    "Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark D. Kimpland officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Volney.
    "Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today.
    "Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Education Memorial Fund, Volunteers of Oswego County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
    "Surviving are a son, George F., Fulton; a daughter, Sharon L., Sackets Harbor; a brother, Ernest, Fulton; a sister, Enola Germain, Oswego; five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
    "His wife, the former Jennie M. Stillman, died in 1976, and a son, Lynn A., died in 1992.
    "Born April 22, 1916, at Volney, son of Bert and Augusta Burchim Thornber, he graduated from Oswego State Teachers College in 1938 with a bachelor's degree in education and later attended graduate school in administration and supervision at Syracuse University.
    "Mr. Thornber served as an Army captain during World War II with the 22nd Battalion Service Battery, 4th Armored
    Division. "He served in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns and, among his decorations, received the Bronze Star for heroism.
    "Mr. Thornber was a life resident of Fulton and served as principal of Fulton Junior High School from 1965 to 1971, when he retired.
    "He previously was principal at Fairgrieve Elementary School from 1959 to 1965 and Phillips Street Elementary School
    from 1953 to 1959 and was an elementary school teacher at Fairgrieve and Fourth Street elementary schools from 1943 to 1953.
    "He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and the education memorial fund committee, Hiram Lodge 144, Free and Accepted Masons, and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. He also was awarded life membership in the Salvation Army in August and was a former member of the Fulton Kiwanis Club.
    "An avid golfer, he was a member of Bedford Creek Golf Course, Sackets Harbor, and Emerald Crest Golf Course,
    Palermo, where he made two holes-in-one."

    Floyd P. Thornber, 79, of 414 W. Fourth St., died Friday at home after a brief illness. He was a native of Volney who lived most of his life in Fulton.

    Mr. Thornber retired after serving as principal at Fulton Junior High School from 1965 to 1971. He was principal at Fairgreive Elementary School from 1959 to 1965 and Phillips Street Elementary School from 1953 to 1959. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Oswego State Teachers' College in 1938. He attended graduate school at Syracuse University.

    Mr. Thornber was an Army captain who served in the Fourth Armored Division during World War II. He served in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. Mr. Thornber received the Bronze Star for heroism.

    He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fulton and served on its board of trustees and the education memorial fund committee.

    Mr. Thornber was a member of Hiram Lodge 144 F&AM in Fulton, the New York State Retired Teachers' Association and was awarded life membership to the Salvation Army in August 1995.

    He was a former member of the Fulton Kiwanis Club.

    Mr. Thornber was an avid golfer and a member of the Bedford Creek Golf Course in Sackets Harbor and Emerald Crest Golf Course in Palermo.

    His wife, the former Jennie M. Stillman, died in 1976 and a son, Lynn A. Thornber, died in 1992.

    Surviving are a son, George F. of Fulton; a daughter, Sharon L. Thornber of Sackets Harbor; a brother, Ernest of Fulton; a sister, Enola Germain of Oswego; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

    Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Fulton with the Rev. Mark D. Kimpland officiating. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Volney.

    Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Masonic services are 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Education Memorial Fund or Volunteers of Oswego County Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

    Lynn A. ?b?Thornber?/b?, 35, of 414 W. Fourth St., died Friday at the Mission Hill Hospice Center, Roxbury, Mass., following a long illness. He had cancer.
    Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Volney.
    Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Contributions can be made to the Mission Hill Hospice Center, 20 Parker Hill Ave., Roxbury, Mass., O2120, or to the First United Methodist Church Educational Memorial Fund, Fulton.

    He was a 1974 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton and received a bachelor of science degree in marketing from the University of Southern Florida in Tampa in 1978.
    Mr. ?b?Thornber ?/b?worked as a self employed tile installer for the past 10 years. He had previously worked in customer
    service relations for Merrill Lynch in Boston.
    He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fulton.
