    LAWRENCE W. AUSTIN
    Lawrence W. Austin, 71, longtime drug store owner and pharmacist at Bennington, died Tuesday morning at Asbury Hospital, Salina. Mr. Austin operated the Bennington drug store for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the United Church of Bennington, a charter member of the Bennington Lions Club, and a past district governor of the Lions. He moved to Bennington in July, 1929. Mr. Austin was a native of Miltonvale and a graduate of the University of Nebraska Pharmacy School. He worked for the late Frank Pedroja at Lincoln until he earned pharmacist registration in Kansas. He then worked at the Ober drug store in Miltonvale for almost two years.
    Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Haley-Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis.

    LAWRENCE W. AUSTIN
    BENNINGTON - The funeral for Lawrence W. Austin, 71, longtime Bennington drug store owner, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Bennington, the Rev. Rick Frisbie officiating. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery. Mr. Austin died Tuesday at Asbury Hospital, Salina.
    Surviving are his wife, Avis, of the home; a son, William R., Overland Park; two daughters, Mrs. Alice McFall, Dexter, and Mrs. Kay Geist, Salina; two stepsons, David Comfort, Minneapolis, and Brad Comfort, Wells; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Eileen Adee, Medford, Ore.; a brother, Harold, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Erma Richard, Miltonvale; seven grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
    Friends may call at Haley-Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Mr. Austin's store, one of the few left in Kansas which had an old fashioned soda fountain, was a favorite meeting spot in Bennington for many
    years.
