    Died:
Clark Heald, who died at his home in Grant Township, Ottawa County Kansas, September 27, 1900, aged 70 years, 7 months, 15 days, was born in Belleville, Jefferson County, New York, February 12, 1830. When two years of age, he came with his parents to Brantingham (Burmingham), Erie County, Ohio. In 1856, he moved to Delaware County, Iowa.
During the War of the Rebellion, he was a member of Co., A, 7th Regt. Iowa Vo. Cavalry and was mustered out of service October 26, 1865, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
In 1866, he was united in marriage to Catharine Gilmour, in Kossuth County, Iowa. To this union seven sons and three daughters were born, of whom five sons and three daughters are still living.
In 1871, he moved to Kossuth County, Iowa, and in 1872, to Wabaunsee County, Kansas. In 1874, he moved to Grant Twsp., Ottawa County, where he resided continously until his death.
Clark was the second of seven sons, two of whom survive him, Alonzo K. and Amos S. both residing in Iowa.
For more than fifty years the writer of this was intimately and closely associated with him, and known him to have been a loving son, kind brother, faithful husband, dutiful parent, honest and upright neighbor and a firm friend. His home and it's agreeable associations and his love for his relatives were in themselves a pleasant world to him.
Thus has passed away another of our early settlers. He lived more than 26 years in the county, a man genial and courteous in his intercourse with his fellowmen, honest and upright in his character, kind and affectionate to his family, and a friend to all.
He leaves a noble, loving wife, eight children, two brothers and many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
The remains were laid to rest in Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Clark married Catherine "Kate" Gilmour on 25 Sep 1866 in Algona, Kossuth County, Iowa, United States. Catherine (daughter of Arthur J. Gilmour and Mary Catherine Miller) was born on 16 Mar 1846 in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States; died on 19 Oct 1930 in Minneapolis, Ottawa County, Kansas, United States; was buried in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Ottawa County, Kansas, United States. Roy Oliver Yonally, son of Jim and Alice Heald Yonally, was born April 13, 1927, three and one-half miles north of Wells, KS. He passed away January 22, 2006, at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis, KS, at the age of 78.

Roy attended school at Wells. As a teenager he began his life-long love as a cowboy working for various ranchers and farmers in the Wells, Delphos, Vine Creek and Miltonvale communities.

While in Miltonvale, the Kabin Cafe became Roy's frequent noontime stop after meeting a pretty waitress, Bessie Nemnich. They were united in marriage on March 33, 1953, in Miltonvale and spent 50 years together.

One of Roy's pastimes was playing softball on community teams. Best known in the Miltonvale area as "Spike", Roy's former teammates always remarked on his speedy base-running. Roy had a great love for music, singing old western cowboy songs and listening to country music throughout his life. He also was part of a quartet for several years that performed in the community. Roy was a member of the Christian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and deacon.

As a farmer/stockman, Roy specialized in Angus cattle and was well-known for his quality Angus bulls. He was always a cowboy at heart with a passion for horses, breaking and training them for himself as well as for others.

Roy was a devoted husband, dad, graddad, and great papa. He enjoyed his grandkids and was a big part of their young lives. As they grew older, he eagerly supported their school and sport activities, rarely missing a ball game.

Roy's love for his family was extended to his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Throughout his lifetime, there were numerous family dinners where he enjoyed pie, homemade ice cream, playing ball, and entertaining the family with yodeling and songs. Roy's humorous line, "Glad you got to see me," and other witty remarks, along with his friendly smile, will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

    Died:
Lloyd Luther was born July 26, 1934, east of Wells to Walter and Viola (Yonally) Luther and left this earthly life at the age of 80 years and one month on August 29, 2014, at the Ottawa County Health Center, where he had resided for the past two and one-half years.

Lloyd attended grade school in Wells and graduated in 1952 from Minneapolis High School. Lloyd would openly admit that school was not his favorite thing. He chose to spend his evening's playing cards rather than doing homework. However, music was a valuable part of school. He played the tuba in band and sang in Glee Club, Quartets, and Mixed Chorus. In later years Lloyd enjoyed singing at weddings and funerals.

After high school, Lloyd attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina and worked at State Street Grocery for $27.33 a week. In 1953, Lloyd began work in the office of International Milling in Salina and remained there until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957. He served in Vilseck, Germany, for 19 months along with Elvis Presley.

After Lloyd was relieved from active duty, he returned to Salina and enlisted in the National Guard where he completed four years of active guard duty. Lloyd continued to work for International Milling in Salina, Greenville, TX, and North Kansas City, MO until his retirement in 1993. He contributed 40 years of dedicated service to the milling industry.

In 1996, Lloyd moved to Minneapolis, where he hosted many family get-togethers at his home. In 2003 he moved to the Elkhorn Apartments where he was an active supporter of the beautiful landscaping and Christmas decorating projects. He continued to host family dinners at the Elkhorn "party room."

Lloyd has always shown steadfast love and loyalty to friends and family. He was a devoted caretaker of his parents, his brothers, and his nephews. Lloyd spent a year taking care of his young great nephews while nephew Dave served in Saudi Arabia. After the death of his brother Logan, Lloyd provided guidance and support to Logan's four sons. He was always there for his aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially in times of sorrow. His quiet compassion and sincerity have been felt and appreciated throughout the years by his family and friends.

Lloyd had a special place in his heart for the children. Whether it was supplying his pantry with squirt cheese and Oreos, making milkshakes after school, or having Lifesavers on hand, he knew how to put a smile on their faces. The current generation of kids will remember the sets of state quarters that he saved for them. Lloyd was truly a man that knew the value of family.

Lloyd had been a member of the Miltonvale Christian Church, the Wells Methodist Church, the Greenville Christian Church and the Kansas City Christian Church. He faithfully attended and supported the Northland Cathedral in North Kansas City and the Free Methodist Church in Minneapolis.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, brother Logan Luther, sisters-in-law Tonya Luther and Lola May Luther, nephew Kevin Luther, a long-time friend, Lloyd Smith, and his 'adopted' mother, Irene Hanes Sandow.

Survivors include his brother Jim and nephew Steve and his wife Mary from Broken Arrow, OK; nephews Keith and Loran Luther from Salina; nephew Joel Luther from Minneapolis, nephew Dave and wife Laura Beth of Sarepta, LA, and his 'adopted' sister Moyne Hanes Siler of Salina. Lloyd has numerous great nieces and nephews and nine first cousins, along with their children and grandchildren, who love him dearly.
