    His obituary appeared on 7 Jul 1971 in the Tribune Press in Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows: "Morris B. Davies. The funeral for Morris B. Davies, 87, of 142 Park street, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Burr-Green funeral Home with the Rev. Donald S. French, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wayside cemetery, Richville.
    "Mr. Davies died Tuesday morning at E. J. Noble Hospital.
    "Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon (Wednesday) from 3 to 5 and this evening.
    "Surviving Mr. Davies are cousins, Wendell Jones, Gouverneur, Meredith Jones and Mrs. Clyde (Edith) Gardner, Richville, Mrs. Ivan (Pauline) Breaky, Rensselaer Falls, Claude Oviatt, San Diego, Calif., and John Davies, Vista, Calif.
    "He was born April 1, 1884 at Gouverneur, a son of John G. and Aletia Patterson Davies. He moved with his parents to Heron, South Dakota, where they ranched until Mr. Davies father died June 19, 1899.
    "After moving to Richville Dec. 20, 1899, Mr. Davies worked as a carpenter, blacksmith and machinist for three years. On Oct. 30, 1908 he moved to Gouverneur and worked at Webster's Shop. He acquired the blacksmith shop after Mr. Webster's death in 1925.
    "Mr. Davies married the former Loean Townsley on Sept. 25, 1923. She died June 15 [sic], 1949. His mother, Mrs. Davies, died Aug. 15, 1955.
    "He retired from his business, the shop being located on Clinton Street, in 1966.
    "Mr. Davies was director of the Gouverneur Band for four years and the orchestra for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Band and was a member of the IOOF Lodge since 1912.
    "He joined the Presbyterian Church in 1913 and was an elder for 24 years and treasurer of the Sunday School for 50 years. He began singing in the Presbyterian Church choir in 1909 and sang in a chorus organized by Charles Taitt, the Community Chorus and the American Legion Chorus.
    "He was honored by the church on the occasion of his birthday in April, 1971."
