Obituary- Published by Ottawa Citizen on Mar. 5, 2013.--RITCHIE, Shirley Mae--Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, after a brief illness at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday, February 28, 2013. Shirley Ritchie of Bridgenorth, formerly of Kingston and Ottawa (Hazeldean), was in her 68th year. Shirley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Queen's University in 1967 and from Teacher's College (Toronto) in 1968. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of teaching, especially primary aged children. Loving wife of the late Larry Ritchie (2010). Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughters Heather Grieve (Geoff) and Alison Ritchie, all of Bridgenorth. Adoring and special Grandma of Duncan and Andrew. Also missed by her sisters Faye Shillington (Dave) of Manotick, Carol Bennett (Bart) of Kanata, and several loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Alf & Ethel Grierson. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Shirley married Lawrence Preston Ritchie in 1968. Lawrence (son of Raymond Arden Ritchie and Living) was born on 25 May 1941; died on 29 Mar 2010 in Kingston (city/cit?e), Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
