    the Republican-Journal in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows:
    "Veteran Mail Carrier Dies At Gouverneur.
    Charles Miller Retired Year Ago--Had Covered 150,000 Miles in Daily Travels. Gouverneur, Aug. 28.--The death of Charles
    Miller at the age of 64 years, occurred Thursday afternoon at his home on the Scotch Settlement road, following an extended
    illness. Mr. Miller was born in Hamilton [sic], September 30, 1857, son of James and Maria Spooner Miller. For several
    years he conducted a drug store in the village of Rensselaer Falls, until his health required that he leave the store, after which
    he moved to this village 33 years ago, since which time he has resided here. He was married in Sep 1883 to Miss Addie
    Dashnaw of this village, who survives.
    "Mr. Miller was one of the veteran mail carriers from the local office, having served in this capacity for 17 years, entering
    the government service in 1904. He was obliged to retire from his duties a little over a year ago, since which time, his
    daughter, Miss Faye Miller has performed his duties on the route. During his long term of service, Mr. Miller has covered
    approximately 150,000 miles in his daily travel over Rural Route No. 4, which covers the Richville road to Pyrites mines to
    the Dusharm road, returning to Gouverneur, approximately 30 miles.
    "Mr. Miller was a member of the Presbyterian church here an also of the Rodger Bible class. Besides his widow, he is
    survived by his daughter, Miss Faye Miller, one brother, Herman Miller of Gouverneur, two sisters, Mrs. Emma Townsley
    and Mrs. Fred Holland, both of Gouverneur. The funeral will be held from his late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
    Rev. Harry C. Campbell, pastor of the First Methodist will officiate and burial will be made in Riverside cemetery."

    Her obituary appeared on 25 Feb 1987 in the Tribune Press in Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, New York, as follows: "Faye M. Ross. Faye M. Ross, a native of Gouverneur, and a resident of Harwich Port, Maine [sic] since 1964, died on Saturday, Feb 14 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Maine [sic]. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Miller of Gouverneur on Sept. 26, 1892 and attended Gouverneur public schools.
    "Mrs. Ross was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gouverneur the Women's Society and the Twentieth Century Club. She played piano for the Sunday School for many years. She learned to play the organ on the Baldwin organ in the recreation room of that day and went on to play the three-manual organ in the church sanctuary a few times under the tutelage of the church organist.
    "In 1964 she moved to Harwich Port on Cape Cod to be near her daughter. There she was an active member of the Dorcas Society of the Pilgrim Church.
    "Six years ago she moved to an apartment in Pine Oaks village in Harwich where she spent many happy hours playing the organ in the Community Room and making friends through her music.
    "On the occasion of her 90th birthday she was honored at a tea given by friends in the Village and entertained them with a half hour of organ music.
    "A memorial service will be conducted for Mrs. Ross by her son-in-law, the Rev. A. John Skeirik, at the Community Room of the Whitcom Building, Pine Oaks Village, on Sunday, March 1, at 3:30 p.m. Her ashes will be placed in the family plot in Gouverneur at a future date.
