THOMAS DANIEL 'DANNY' McDOUGALL, age 85, of Alpena, passed away at home on Tuesday July 19, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on October 26, 1925 to the late Thomas (Earl) and Clara (LaBlanc) McDougall. He married Margaret Kennedy on August 25, 1949. She preceded him in death on November 18, 1990. He is survived by Barbara (Purol) McDougall whom he married on February 15, 1997. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Hainstock. Danny owned and operated The Owl Caf?e for many years. He also spent ten years a Chief Sergeant of Arms in the Michigan House of Representatives and later served as Alpena County Magistrate until his retirement in 1999. A veteran of WWII, he served in the bombing wing of the US Army Air Corp in the South Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life time member of the Little Wolf Hunting Club at Hubbard Lake, where it was rumored that he had shot 7,568 deer during his career. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and charismatic personality.
