Obituary - Perth Courier - Sept.21,1950 -
James Smith - The community was saddened on Friday, September 8th, by the sudden passing of Mr. James Smith in his 77th year. Born in Dalhousie Township, he was the son of the late James Smith and Agnes Brownlee, and spent his entire lifetime in this district. In 1898 he was married to Elizabeth Millar, who predeceased him four years ago. Left to mourn his loss is one sister, Annie, of Dalhousie Lake. The funeral was held on Sunday, September 10th, at 1:30 p.m. and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. T. W. Brett of McDonald's Corners. Interment was made in Crawford's cemetery. The pallbearers were neighbours of deceased, namely, Messrs. David Nisbet, Stanley Purdon, Eldred Gemmill, Gilbert McDougall, James Paul and Robert Paul. Many beautiful floral tributes were received to his memory. Among those attending were relatives from North Bay, Smiths Falls, Perth and Kingston.
