Son of George Lanneu and Eileen Stewart Nye, husband of Ann Marie Tweedie.

MULLINS - Mr. Jackson Lenneau Nye, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 at his residence after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 at Macadonia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Sayre and the Rev. Glenn Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mr. Nye was born December 3, 1926, in Greensboro, NC, a son of the late George Lenneau Nye and the late Eileen Setwart Nye. He was a graduate of Wake Forest College, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Nye served the community as a pharmacist for 50 years, as owner of Nye Drug Store and co-owner of Nye-Palace Pharmacy. He was also a pharmacist for the Mullins Hospital, Marion Hospital and Marion County Medical Center. Mr. Nye was a life member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association and active in the Pee Dee Pharmaceutical Association.

Mr. Nye had served on the Board of Directors for Davis National Bank and First National Bank. He had also served as a Boardmember of Pee Dee Academy. He was past President and member of the Mullins Cotillione Club.

Mr. Nye was a member of the SAR, Founders and Patriots of America, First Families of Massachusetts and Old Plymouth Colony Descendents.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Nye was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Hut Class and had served as a Trustee and on the Administrative Board.

Mr. Nye is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Tweedie Nye of the home; a daughter, Jacquelyn Nye Paterno and a son-in-law, Charles F. Paterno of Chapel Hill, NC, and formerly of Florence; a sister, Mary Stuart Townsend of Charlotte, NC; and 4 grandsons.
