Notes: Mary grieved greatly after Edward's death and she never seemed to be able to get over the sorrow. She was 50 years of age when she died and was buried beside her son in the Church of England cemetery at Brooke. Her husband, John Blair lived for many years after her death but never remarried. Mary married John H. Blair, Jr. on 11 Mar 1876 in Knox Presbyterian Church, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. John (son of John Blair, Sr. and Margaret Truelove) was born on 29 Oct 1850 in Bathurst Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 30 Jan 1930 in Bathurst Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Notes: Died at age 21. Three years earlier, while working at a threshing on a neighbour's farm, his left hand came in contact with the rapidly revolving cylinder of the machine. The hand and arm were drawn into the machinery and before the machinery could be turned off the arm was literally torn from the body at the shoulder. The next day his father located the hand and a portion of the arm at the rear of the machine. |
