    DEATHS
At Almonte, 5th Feb., Mr James Toshack, aged 70 years

1886, Friday February 12, The Almonte Gazette front page
OBIT ? Last week we intimated to our readers that our respected citizen, Mr James Toshack, who has been ill for some time, was convalescing. On Friday afternoon many who had read the item with pleasure were thunderstruck to hear of his sudden death that day. Mr T. had been feeling somewhat better than usual, and, after partaking of a hearty dinner, was in the act of walking across the floor when he took a weak turn, and had to be assisted to a sofa, where he breathed his last fifteen minutes later. From the fact that he covered the region of his heart with his hands on getting faint, it is thought his end was hastened by trouble connected with that organ. He was 70 years of age. The funeral took place on Monday, and a large number who followed his remains to the grave evidenced the high esteem in which he was held by all. Much sympathy is express for Mrs Toshack in her bereavement.

Family/Spouse: Agnes McLean. Agnes (daughter of Lachlan McLean and Christina Campbell) was born on 5 Apr 1818 in Kilpatrick, Argyll and Bute, Scotland; died on 21 Oct 1898 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
