    Jack M. Bowen passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2009. He was born in Marysville on September 25, 1920, the 8th of 11 children born to Chester and Rhetta Bowen. Jack was raised in Marysville, and began his career working for Del Pero Mondon Meat Company during his high school years. He joined and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. His tour of duty included the South Pacific, Iwo Jima and Korea. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Returning home he resumed work in the meat business, and retired after 31 years from the Swift Company as a department head in California, Idaho and Arizona. He was a member of the Yuba City Moose Lodge and past member and president of SIR's.

    Jack was preceded in death by Irene Bowen, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his sisters and daughter. A celebration of life will be held at Ruthy's Restaurant in Yuba City on Saturday, August 29th, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. For those who wish, donations may be made in his honor to the charity of choice. Private internment will be at Sutter Cemetery. Semper Fidelis.
