    Davenport Times - May 23, 1985

    Bertha Palmer, a descendant of two pioneer families - the Binks and the McClures - died on Monday, May 20 here in Davenport at the Lincoln Nursing Home.
    Born in a log cabin near the Bald Ridge area, Mrs. Palmer attended schools at Bald Ridge and here in Davenport.
    She married Cliff Palmer on January 1, 1920, and the couple lived in Davenport for 18 years before moving to Coulee Dam.
    Later, during the war years, the Palmers moved to Portland, Ore.; and then lived in Dundee, Ore. for 15 years.
    When Mrs. Palmer's husband, Cliff, retired, the couple returned to the Davenport area. The Palmers lived here until their deaths.
    Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Keith Ehlenfeldt of Davenport. Surviving relatives left out per Find A Grave rules.

    Bertha married Melvin G. Porter on 2 May 1913 in Davenport, Lincoln, Washington, United States. Melvin (son of Edward J. Porter and Clara Elsie Fish) was born on 13 Sep 1890 in Davenport, Lincoln County, Washington, United States; died on 25 Mar 1933 in Bell, Los Angeles County, California, United States; was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California, United States.     EHLENFELDT, Helen A. (Age 96) Passed away July 30, 2017 in Davenport, WA her home. Helen was born December 6, 1920 in Reardan, WA to Clifford and Bertha (McClure) Palmer. She married Keith Ehlenfeldt on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1939 in Davenport, WA.

    She was a member of the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, Lincoln County Historical Society. Helen was a nurse's aide when Lincoln Hospital first opened. She loved the work and her coworkers. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing her ukulele, singing for family and in the choir and dancing, but her family and friends were most important to her.

    Helen is survived by two sons Bob Ehlenfeldt and Bill Ehlenfeldt and one daughter Trissie Sanguinet. She has five grandchildren: Holly (Brian) Stockman, Amy Ehlenfeldt, Charles (Kara) Ehlenfeldt, Michelle (Rob) Hopp, Christine (Mark Downey) Sanguinet, and nine great- grandchildren: Ashleigh (Brady), Tyler, Kristopher, Megee, Michael, Cole, Joshua (Jessica), Rochelle and Megan. Extended family Ben (Julie) McBride and their children Morgan (Kurt), Amanda and Scott, Mary (Ron) Hollis and daughter Jennifer (Josh), Jay (Tracey) Sanguinet and their children Sean (Emily), Kyle, Jean and Trent.

    Helen was preceded in death by her husband Keith in 2002, son-in-law Jean Sanguinet, daughter-in-law Colleen Ehlenfeldt, grandchildren Michael Sanguinet and Annette Sanguinet McBride.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, Davenport, WA with Pastor Lucas Boomsma, officiating. Interment will be held at the Mondovi Cemetery, Davenport, WA. Memorials may be made to the Davenport-United Methodist Church or to the Union Gospel Mission.
