Sad news was received in town on Monday, Feb3rd, of the death in Winnipeg of Margaret McPherson Kellock, wife of Lieut Col Scott, collector of customs. Mrs. Scott was born in Perth in 1842, being the daughter of the late Robert Kellock. After her marriage, Capt. now Lieut Col Scott continued to reside here, and published the Expositor.

Captain Scott went to Winniped with the military expeditions, and afterwards decided to locate there, and his wife and family moved there with him. Mrs. Scott's death will be regretted by a large circle of friends by whom she was ever held in high esteem for her loving and unselfish disposition and unaffected piety which she exhibited in everyday life, as well as in the home and church. Her illness extending over several month was borne with cheerful and christian resignation. In religion she was a Baptist. Interment by her husband Lt Col Scott three sons took place in Winnipeg. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Fred and John, Winnipeg, Col. R. Kellock Scott, DSO, Ottawa and Misses May and Mabel at home. J.F, Kellock is the only surviving brother and Mrs Wm. Allan, Allan's Mills, and Mrs Hugh Robertson, town are sisters.

The Township of Bathurst has lost another of its oldest and highly honored residents in the person of Mr. David Young, who died at his home in Glen Tay on Saturday, June 13th. The cause of death is attributed to kidney troubles. Mr. Young had ever been a strong and healthy man and the illness which caused his death was of three months duration. Deceased was a French Canadian by birth, having been born below Ottawa in Quebec in 1831. He came to Perth when a young man of seventeen, and apprenticed himself to a Mr. Hunter who carried on a carriage-making business in the stand now occupied by Mr. Cooper, blacksmith, on Gore Street east. He remained here for ten years when he moved to Glen Tay, where he had secured a position as foreman over the carriage industry of the late James Kearns, which position he held till the works were closed down. He then opened a shop for himself which he conducted till he was compelled to retire from business activity three months ago owing to his illness.

Mr. Young was a manly man, honored and respected by everyone aand his friends were legion. He had often beek asked to enter municipal life, but his inclination did not lie that way. In politics he was a Reformer.

He was married to Zoe Berthiaume, of Ottawa, fifty-one years ago, who with seven daughters and four sons survive. The children are Dennis, Smiths Falls; Edward, Perth; Eugene, Lanark; Patrick, Milwaukee' Mrs J.P. Byrne, Perth; Mrs. J. T. Noonan, Ottawa; Mrs. John Brady, Bathurst; Mrs Cornell, Philadelphia; and Misses Agnes, Mary and Josephine, at home.

The funeral took place on Monday morning at ten o'clock, the procession proceeding from his alte residence to St. John's Church thence to the Catholic Cemetery. There were 135 carriages in line.
