    Died:
    Robert J. (Bert) Shanks
    After a lengthy illness Bert Shanks passed away at Ottawa General Hospital, Ottawa, December 27, 1979.
    Born at Playfairville a son of Isaac Shanks and Margaret Paul. Brother of Isaac and four sisters predeceased.

    He married Vida Moss, March 21, 1923 and took up residence on a farm near Snow Road. To this union were born, James, Aileen and Reginald, a foster son Carl Moss.
    At his wife's death, August 14, 1955, he moved to Perth working for Arnold Carson and Alex Barclay Landscaping and Paving.

    In 1968 he married Wilma Paul gathering into his family Bill, Edith and Elizabeth.
    He was a member of Presbyterian church, Perth acting as manager for many years. Bert also belonged to the Cornucopia Lodge of Snow Road. He always enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

    IOOF Lodge service was held Sunday, Dec 30th, evening. The funeral took place at Blair and Sons Chapel, Dec. 31, 1979. Conducted by Rev. McKenzie and Rev. Forrester. While the funeral left for interment in Crawford's cemetery a favorite hymn, Safe in the Arms of Jesus was played. Flowers and donations showed the esteem in which he was held by friends, neighbours and family.
    Pallbearers were : Robert Roffey, Lawrence Ryder, Ray Hughes, Orville Stewart, Bob Scott, Carman Gillespie.
    Honorary Pallbearers were: Robert Muller, Ellis Benedict, Alex Barclay, Hill Conboy.
    Flower Bearers were Grandsons Harry and David Shanks, Raymond and Kenton Shanks, Garry Conboy and Murray Elliott.

    Robert married Vida Greta Moss on 21 Mar 1923. Vida (daughter of Henry Moss and Sarah Adeline Robinson) was born on 20 Nov 1903; died on 14 Aug 1955; was buried in Crawford Cemetery, Elphin, Dalhousie Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Predeceased by 1 sister; Ruth Ferguson. Loved grandma of Christopher (Patricia) & Bradley Jones and Riley & Brandon McNeely. Friends may call at the C. R. GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 127 Church Street, Almonte For visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and where Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 2 pm. Interment Guthrie United Cemetery, Clayton.

Dear mother of James, Regginald (Mary) and Janet (Jamie). Devoted and adored grandmother of Maria, Kayla, Sebastian, Hunter, Megan and Dustin. Dear daughter of Margaret Turcot. Survived by her brothers and sisters, Henry Huckstep, Marilyn Scott, Clarence Huckstep, Margaret Wark and step-brothers Arthur and Ken Turcot. Predeceased by her father Percy Huckstep. Friends may call at the ALAN R. BARKER FUNERAL HOME, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. with Reverend Robert Risch officiating. Cremation to follow. Donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
