The death of Mrs. John Lake of Glen Tay, occurred on Wednesday, November 13, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clayton Farnel of Perth.
Mrs. Lake was formerly Agnes Clarissa Clark. She was born at Frankville on 20 November, 1878, daughter of the late Mrs. John Ashby and the late Robert Clark. Fifty years ago she was united in marriage to John Lake at Playfairville. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, three sons and five daughters. Harold and Percy of Perth; Archie, Kingston, (Laura) Mrs. Mack Watt, Christie Lake; (Ruby) Mrs. Fred McGinnis, Kingston; (Catherine) Mrs. Richard Burke, Glen Tay; (Margaret) Mrs. Kenneth Robins, Smiths Falls; and (Jennie) Mrs. Clayton Farnel, Perth. Two sisters and three brothers also survive, Mrs John C. Mather, Perth, Mrs. Daniel Nichols, Carleton Place, Archie and Russell, residing in the west and Robert of Fallbrook.
The service was held from Blair and Son's Funeral Home and was conducted by the Rev. S. B. Holmes of St. James' Anglican Church. Interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were neighbours of the deceased, Herbert Miller, Delbert Chaplin, Jack Dowdall, Ronald Chaplin, Calvin Buchanan and John C. Mather.
The large attendance at the funeral and the nlumerous floral tributes bore testimony to the high regards held for the deceased.

A pleasant Surprise, hearing from you - nice to know that you are both enjoying good health.

Florence and I are keeping pretty well, also, for a couple of recycled teenagers. florence has been busy making crafts for the past couple of months. She had asales table at one of the churches a couple of weeks ago, and has a section of the basement here at home where she has her crafts on display. She enjoys doing that sort of thing as a hobby, and never has time to get bored.

I have just about completed my outside chores for the coming winter - raking leaves "tons of them" on our acre of land, putting on storm windows, cleaning eavetroughs, etc.
I am happy that I can do these things - it takes me longer to do them, but I have plenty of time.

Yes Evelyn, Mary is in fairly good health, she has been in a nursing home, for about eight years. she had two or three strokes, and losst the use of her right arm and leg, and her speech is very poor - she is in a wheelchair, cannot walk without help - but is reasonably happy and the staff at the home is good and looks after her very well.

Now Evelyn, I am no help to you at all regarding information about the Ashby or Clark families. Mother used to talk about her Grandmother (Clark) who lived "I think" either in Lombardy or Plum Hollow. I am not at all sure which is correct, and cannot recall, her ever talking about her Grandfather.

I do not remember much about what she told us when we were children and I expect you know more about the Ashbys than I do.

Sorry Evelyn, I am no help but I cannot remember something I never knew. Intelligent sort of person, that's me.

Anyway our regards to you and Ernest and if you ever get up this way we would be very happy if you could call in.

Percy Elliott Lake 69 of Sharbot Lake who died recently at Kingston General Hospital following a short illness was buried in Oconto Cemetery. He was born at Playfairville, a son of the late John Lake and his wife Agnes but had been a Sharbot Lake resident for 27 1/2 years. A sectionman on the Canadian Pacific Railway he retired five years ago.

Surviving are his wife Myrtle four sons Donald, Norman, Alvin, and Peter; two brothers Harold and Archie; and four sisters Miss Mary Lake, Mrs Catherine Burke, Mrs Margaret Robins, and Mrs Jennie Farnel.

Pallbearers were Ross Coutts, Harry Mather, Keith Hawley, Virgil Garrett, John Lee, and William Warren.

Welcomed back into the arms of God, peacefully with her 5 daughters by her side on Friday October 2, 2020. Patricia Evelyn Salter (nee Lake) of Brockville. Beloved wife of the late William "Bill" James Salter. Dear mother of Michelle Sigouin, Allison Kallio (Christopher), Julie Salter-Keane (Ron), Laurie Salter (Victor) and Maribeth Graham (James). Proud Grandmother of Andrew (Kelly), Rosalynd (Gilles), Alexandra, Adam (Sydney), Amy, Peter (Melissa), James (Layla), John (Devyn), Mark, Natalie, Rebecca (Thomas) as well as 5 great-grandchildren. Patricia Salter is also survived by a brother Jack (Lydia), a sister Nancy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Archie and Evelyn (Nichols) Lake, a grandson Michael Bimm, a brother Thomas and a sister Faye. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Gerry Ashe and the St. Elizabeth Nurses for the care and compassion shown to their mother.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held with arrangements entrusted to the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville. THOMAS PETER LAKE SMITHS FALLS - Funeral of Thomas Peter Lake, 27, a Queen's University law students killed in an automobile accident at Napanee was held here recently. Born in Perth, he was son of Archie C Lake and the former Evelyn Nichols. Also surviving are his wife the former Doris Reynolds, sisters Patricia (Mrs William Salter) of Brockville, Fay of Smiths Falls, and twin sister Nancy of Toronto and a brother Dr John Lake Peterborough.

Mr Lake attended primary and secondary schools at Smiths Falls and entered law school at Queen's in September 1968. He was an Anglican. Funeral service was from Amy funeral home Smiths Falls to Hillcrest cemetery for burial Pall-bearers were Dr Brian Bailey, Peter Crichton, Dr Peter Frank, Frank Hawkins, John Hovius and Kenneth Weston.

The family of Jim is deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing in hospital, Perth on Monday, June 15th, 2015. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen (Hogan) Burke and his parents Richard and Catherine (Lake) Burke formerly of Glen Tay. He leaves to mourn his four children, Judie (Derwyn) Rutko of Watrous, Saskatchewan, Patricia (Curtis) Carr, Rick (Tracey) Burke and Jerry Burke all of Perth. Jim was the dearly loved Papa to Michael and Becky Burke, Abby Rutko and Keegan Carr and special Papa to Scott and Caitie Renaud. He was the loved brother of Vie (George) Hawley, Shirley Ashby, Steven (Edie) Burke and Barb Renaud. Jim was predeceased by his brothers Tom, Bob and Russell Burke and brothers-in-law Carl Hogan, Art Pennett and Morris Ashby. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Pat, Reta and Louise Burke. He was the devoted brother-in-law to Millie Pennett. Jim was the cherished uncle of Debbie, Doug and Pod Pennett. He will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pre-deceased by her brothers Jim, Tom, Bob and Russell. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Pat Burke of Perth, Louise Burke of Glen Tay, Rita Burke of Perth her brother-inlaw Ivan (Linda) Hawley of B.C. and her many nieces and nephews. Shirley passed peacefully with her family by her side on Monday May 14th, 2018 at the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth, ON in her 82nd year. She was the loved wife of the late Morris William Ashby (Sept 2010) and dearly loved Mom of Wayne (Kathie), Cathy (Dan) Trotter and Sharon (Ken) Scanlon. She was the special Nana to Trevor Ashby (Randall Greer), Megan Ashby (Phillip Thomas) Gregory Trotter (Alli Blunt), Hayden Trotter (Megan Pass), Jamie (Jerry) Diaz, and Michael Scanlon and very proud Great Nana to River and Canaan Ashby, and Noah Diaz. Shirley will be missed by her sister, Barbara Renaud, her brother Steve (Edie) Burke, sisters-in-law, Reta Burke, Louise Burke, brothers-in-law Ivan (Shirley Crosbie) Ashby and George Hawley. Shirley will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews, good friends at Carolina Court and good friends and neighbours in the Balderson and Perth areas.
