    John Rowatt, 83 years old, of 475 Decatur st., a retired builder, died at his home on Sunday, of heart trouble. His funeral services, this evening at 8 o'clock, will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Charles W. Dane, pastor of St. Mark's Congregational Church, and the interment, tomorrow, will be in Evergreens Cemetery. Mr. Rowatt was born in Perth, Ontario, Canada, and came to Brooklyn early in life as a carpenter by trade. He enlisted in a New York regiment of volunteers in the Civil War as a private, and while in service invented and built the first gun carriage used by the Union Army. He was immediately taken out of active service, and during the remainder of the war was engaged in the work of constructing gun carriages for the Army.

    After the Civil War Mr. Rowatt came back to Brooklyn and became a contractor and builder of houses on a large scale here and in Florida, until 40 years ago, when he retired from business. Mr. Rowatt is survived by his widow, Mrs. Agnes Burns Rowatt; a brother, William Rowatt of North Dakota, and two sisters, living in Canada.

    Many in town were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. George Warren, who passed awa in Brockville where she had been a patient at the hospital there for over a year says the Carleton Place Central Canadian of last week.

    The late Mrs. Warren was before her marriage, Miss Mary Agnes Rowat. She was born in Perth 78 years ago, a daughter of the late David Rowat. In 1875 she married the late George Warren of Carleton Place, taking up residence in town.

    Deceased is survived by 2 stepsons and 2 step daughters: Messrs Joseph warren of Belvedere, Ill, John of Toronto, (Mary Agnes) Mrs. Knox of Indian Head, Sask., and Mrs Starr Stewart of town. One sister, Mrs. Fox of Winchester and one brother, Mr Wm Rowat, of North West, also survive.

    The remains were brought to town and the funeral took place on the arrival of the Brockville train from the CPR station to St James church and thence to St John's cemetery at Boyds. the pallbearers were: Wm. Simpson, John Wills, Wesley Cook, Starr Stewart, Alex. McDiarmid and Wm. Pattie.
