    Obituary - The Lanark Era - Mar.12,1919 -
    North Sherbrooke, Monday, March 3rd, William Sargeant, aged 87 years. Son of the late Robert Sergeant, he was among the first to be born in the Township of North Sherbrooke. He married Janet Wilson, also of North Sherbrooke, who died sixteen years ago. They had a family of five sons and four daughters; Ellen (Mrs. John Truelove), deceased; Robert, of Brooke; John, of McDonald's Corners; Sophia (Mrs. J. Buchanan), deceased; Mrs. Thomas Briggs, Powasson; David, on the homestead; William, of Westport; and Mrs. T. K. Purdon, of Powasson. One boy died in infancy. One brother still survives. Burial in Crawford's Cemetery. (Brother's name is Joseph Sergeant, of Alberta)

    William married Janet Wilson on 1 Aug 1856. Janet (daughter of David Wilson and Ellen Smith) was born in 1835 in Sherbrooke North Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 17 Aug 1903; was buried in Crawford Cemetery, Elphin, Dalhousie Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Obituary - The Perth Courier - Mar.20,1925-
    In Perth Memorial Hospital, Monday, March 2nd, following an illness of less than two weeks, of blood poisoning, David Sergeant, North Sherbrooke, the 2nd youngest son of William Sergeant and Janet Wilson, both deceased. About 30 years ago he married Hannah M. Long who predeceased him one year ago. Two sons: Russell & Lloyd, both of North Sherbrooke. Mrs. Lloyd Sergeant's funeral from same home exactly 5 weeks previous. Leaves 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Elizabeth (Mrs. Thomas Briggs) and Alice (Mrs. T.R. Purdon), both of Powassan; Robert, South Sherbrooke; John, McDonald's Corners; and William A., Westport. Sister Ellen ( Mrs. J. Truelove) & Sophia ( Mrs. John Buchannan) predeceased him. To Crawford's Cemetery Thursday.
