    The death of Frances Smith occurred Sunday May 16, 2004 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. Born in Glen Levit, NB on October 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Barbara Adams and James Pollock. She is survived by her husband Jack, one son Keith (Nancy) MacKenzie, Stoufville, Ontario, four daughters Deborah (Bill) Adams, Bristol. NB. Dawne (Bill) Smithson, Winnipeg, MB, Dayle Roy, Atholville and Karen (Gary) LeBrun, Lower Sackville, NS; six grandsons, five grand-daughters and ine great grandchildren. Also, left to mourn, two sisters Bertha Adams, Morres Settlement, QC and Glennis (Peachie) Pollock, Moncton, NB as well as several nieces adn nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers, Whitney Betteridge, Reginald, Ronald, Denzil and Beverly Pollock, one sister Doris Firth as well as one grandson Scott Mackenzie. She wasa loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother who was admired by both family and friends for her strength and determination. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends for whom she was always ready to lend a helping hand. For 27 years she was a dedicated employee of the Restigouche Hospital Center. During World War II, she was a member of the Canadian Women's Army Corp. for three years and was also a dedicated life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 19 where she served as secretary/treasurer for eigtht years and was elected the first female president of Branch 19, a position which she held for two years. She was also a thirty five year member of the Ladies Auxillary. Funeral services were held at Maher's Funeral Chapel with internment in the Glen Levit Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons; Mathew LeBrun, Todd Adams, Kyle Adams and Adam Smithson and nephews; Donald Pollock and Bobby Betteridge. Honorary pallbearers; Campbellton Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19.
