Phyllis Ann Jones
Funeral services for Phyllis Ann Jones, 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Bossier City, with Pastor David Melville officiating. Interment will follow at Park in Haughton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born on December 3, in 1931 to the late Helen and Franklin Witt in Catasauqua, PA. She entered into rest on January 12, 2009, at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital after a brief illness. She served in the United States Air Force from January 1951 to September 1952. While stationed at Hamilton AFB, she met and married her husband Bill. Phyllis was a former employee of Bossier Parish Community College. She also worked with BPCC's Community Education Program and touched the lives of many co-workers and students. She remained a strong and faithful supporter of the college.
Phyllis was a member of the Fellowship United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Bossier City for over 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bill Jones; sons, Randy Jones and wife Debbie of Collinsville, IL; Scott Jones and wife Brenda of Bossier City, LA; three grandchildren, William R. Jones, III, Evelyn Boone and husband James, Ashley Lawlor and husband Alec; three great grandchildren Logan Jones, Alexander Jones and Persephanie Jones. She was preceded in death by her grandson Garrett Adam Jones.
Pallbearers will be Larry Grice, Irvin Dahlberg, Dale Linton, Scott Spalding, Jim Rathmell, and Jay Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Hudson and Rodney Murphy.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the CCU Staff of Highland Hospital for their care of Phyllis.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Fellowship United Methodist Church Building Fund.
