    Died:
    John Baird had worked on the railroad construction across western Canada, including the Duhamel trestle on the Grand Trunk Railway, 1909 to 1911, which was the longest wooded trestle; 3287 feet long and 118 feet high, through the Battle River valley north of Duhamel. Later, John was brakeman on trains in the western provinces. Although a good swimmer, he drowned in Souris River July, 1914.
