"Mary Peace Hazard Douglas passed away at the age of 87 on February 1, 2013. She lived a life full of grace, dignity and class. After a short battle with cancer, she has moved on to her new life of bliss. Mary Peace was an active member in the Southern Arizona community for over 70 years of her life. She was born in New York City but was raised mostly in Saunderstown, Rhode Island with her family. She leaves a surviving brother, Mike Hazard (married to Sue) and her son, Peter (married to Linda) and daughters, Bronwyn (married to Walt) and Morgan; grandchildren, Sumner (married to Juliette), Megan, David (married to Robin) and Neil; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Gail and Clara Rose and many loving friends. Mary Peace came to Arizona to be the wife of James Douglas. She arrived at the Fairbanks station on the San Pedro River and was driven to the ranch in the Sonoita Valley by her lifelong friend and foreman of the ranch Lencho Leon. She lived several years on the ranch in Sonoita in Southern Arizona. The Sonoita Valley and Southern Arizona were the passions of her life. She was a model, a fund raiser, a mother, a friend and many more things to the people and family that knew her. Mary Peace, along with a small group of women, was instrumental in establishing Planned Parenthood in Tucson and the State of Arizona and created a successful fundraising organization that continues to this day. Mary Peace will be missed by her family, her friends and the Sonoita Valley that she loved so much. Please send contributions in her memory to either Planned Parenthood or the Patagonia Library. A Memorial Service will be held in Sonoita at her house on Saturday, April 6, 2013"

"Peter Hazard Douglas Peter Douglas, 65 years old, died on Christmas Day of a stroke. He was born on November, 4, 1949 in Tucson, AZ, to James Stewart Douglas and Mary Peace Hazard Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Doogie. He is survived by his life-long love Linda, wife of 33 years, and his two children, Megan, 29 and son, Sumner, 31, (Juliette), who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Bronwyn (Walt) and Morgan and nephews, Philip Rosenberg, Neil Rubenstein and David Rubenstein. Peter was proud to be a cowboy who was a fifth generation Arizonan. He was raised on a ranch in Sonoita, AZ, which gave him a profound appreciation for the unique beauty and spirit of the land. He was a founding member of Tucson Greater Leadership, a founding partner and principle of PICOR Commercial Real Estate since 1987, active on the YMCA board for over 10 years, YMCA Chairman 2011-2013, and an active leader and President of Los Charros, a life long passion. Peter will be remembered for turning his keen observations of people into hilarious humor. He was a leader and mentor who embodied kindness, consideration and the possibility of great success. His magnetic presence, gusto for life and love of people will be missed. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Mountain Oyster Club, starting at 10:00 and ending at 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made in his honor to the YMCA of Southern Arizona."
