    Mrs James Schoular
    There passed to rest at her home on Farm Street, on Saturday last, a highly respected resident of the town in the person of Mrs James Schoular, after an illness of more than two years. Mrs Schoular was the former Miss Margaret McKay and was born in Lanark Township in 1862, a daughter of the late William McKay and his wife Ann Pretty, descendants of pioneers of that district. In June 1890, she married James Schoular and they resided in Arnprior for a time, coming to Almonte, 26 years ago. Mr Schoular died two years later. Surviving are three daughters and three sons, Mrs Harry Cameron of Arnprior; Miss Elizabeth Schoular of the teaching staff of the Almonte Public School; Miss Della Schoular of Almonte; William Schoular, C.P.R., Smiths Falls; James Schoular, of St Hyacinthe, Que; Alex Schoular of Almonte, and three sisters and four brothers, Mrs Duncan Hamilton of Carleton Place; Mrs William Dunlop, Union Hall; Mrs Peter McDougall of Blakeney; Alex McKay, Middleville; Daniel and George McKay, Arnprior, and Nelson McKay, Almonte. Mrs Schoular was a valued member of Bethany United Church and also a member of the Women's Missionary Society. The funeral was held on Monday, Sept 7, from her late residence and was largely attended by relatives and friends. Rev W.J. Scott, pastor of Bethany United Church officiated. The pallbearers were Messrs W.W. Watchorn, Martin Maxwell, E.H. Farnham, John Miller, John McDonald and Howard Giles. Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the weaving department of the Rosamond Woolen Co Limited; Tweed department of Penman's Limited, St Hyacinthe, Que; Mississippi Lodge No 147 A.F. & A.M., and the teaching staff of Almonte Public School. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Margaret married James Schoular in 1890. James was born on 15 May 1863 in Darling Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 13 Sep 1918 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Mrs John T. Robertson Dies at Residence Here
    The death occurred at her residence, 417 Bay street, on Sunday, of Mrs John T. Robertson, member of a well-known Ottawa Valley family. Mrs Robertson was in ill health for several weeks. She was formerly Miss Elizabeth Ann McKay, and lived at Arnprior, Ont., before moving to Ottawa about 16 years ago. Surviving Mrs Robertson are, her husband, one son, Earle Robertson, of Simcoe, On., and one daughter, Miss Meda Robertson, of the Department of National Revenue, Ottawa; also, five brothers, Alex McKay, Middleville, Ont., Daniel and George McKay, Arnprior; Nelson McKay, Almonte, and William McKay, Bridgeford, Sask., and four sisters, Mrs William Dunlop and Mrs Peter McDougal, of Almonte, Mrs D. Hamilton, Carleton Place, and Mrs Margaret Schoular, Almonte.

    Mrs John T. Robertson
    The funeral of Elizabeth Ann McKay, wife of John T. Robertson of Ottawa, was held last Tuesday from the home of her sister, Mrs Margaret Schoular, Almonte, where service was conducted by Rev C.D. McLellan of Bethany Church, Almonte. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk cemetery. The pallbearers were William, Alex and James Schoular, Hartley McKay, Nelson and Norman Dunlop, all nephews of the deceased. Deceased passed away at her home at Ottawa, on Sunday, Sept 16th. Mrs Robertson, was in her 64th year, the first break in a family of ten. She was a daughter of the late William McKay and Annie Pretty, pioneers of Lanark township, and was born in Lanark township. There she was married. About 36 years ago she moved to Arnprior with her husband. They lived there for about twenty years and then moved to Ottawa. The chief mourners are, besides her husband and daughter, Meda, of Ottawa, one son, Earle, of Simcoe; also five brothers, Alex McKay, Middleville; Daniel and George McKay, Arnprior; William McKay; Bridgeford, Sask.; Nelson McKay, Almonte, and four sisters, Mrs William Dunlop, Mrs Peter McDougal and Mrs Margaret Schoular, Almonte, and Mrs D. Hamilton, Carleton Place.

    Elizabeth married John Thomas Robertson in 1896. John was born on 28 Nov 1867 in Lanark Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 13 Apr 1938 in Ottawa, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     McDOUGALL, Esther Sarah
    Suddenly in hospital, on Saturday, January 24, 1976, Esther Sarah McKay, of Almonte. In her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Peter N. McDougall and dear mother of Clifford, Willard and Doreen (Mrs Howard Barr), all of Almonte; Mrs Annie Pierce, Pakenham; Audrey (Mrs William Brown) of Carleton Place; Mabel (Mrs Jack Noonan) and Mrs Myrtle Mitchell, both of Perth; Mrs Muriel Lowry of Belleville; Blanche (Mrs Lyle Pretty) of Pickering and Helen (Mrs Ben Miller) of Toronto. Predeceased by one daughter, Lena. 39 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. Rested at the Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte, where service was held on Monday, January 26th, at 2 p.m. Rev Robert J. McCrea officiating. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Mrs Esther McDougall
    The death of Mrs Esther Sarah McDougall of R.R. No 3, Almonte, occurred suddenly at the Almonte General Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 1976, in her 94th year. Born in Lanark Township on November 19, 1882, she was a daughter of the late William McKay and his wife Annie Pretty. She was married at Middleville in June, 1906, to the late Peter McDougall. She was a member of the United Church. Mrs McDougall is survived by two sons, Clifford and Willard, both of Almonte, and eight daughters: Annie (Mrs Thos Pierce), Pakenham; Blanche (Mrs Lyle Pretty), Pickering; Myrtle (Mrs F. Mitchell), Perth; Helen (Mrs Ben Miller), Toronto; Audrey (Mrs Wm Brown), Carleton Place; Muriel (Mrs A. Lowry), Belleville; Mabel (Mrs Jack Noonan) Perth, and Doreen (Mrs Howard Barr), Almonte. One daughter, Lena, is deceased. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, at 2.00 p.m. with interment at Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev Robert McCrea conducted the funeral services. The pallbearers were grandsons, Jack Mitchell, Toni Noonan, Dale McDougall, Don Pierce, Don Miller and Darwyn Barr.

    Esther married Peter N. McDougall on 27 Jun 1906. Peter (son of Charles McDougall and Isabella Rankin) was born on 29 Dec 1875 in Hopetown, Lanark Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 28 Oct 1939 in Blakeney, Ramsay Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
