    Birth:
    He was born Pehr Sorensson, but changed his name to Peter Yorgason or Yorganson after immigrating to the United States with his parents and younger siblings. He was born in Lyngby, Malmohus, Sweden on February 14, 1835. Died February 1, 1917 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.     He was born Pehr Sorensson, or Pehr Joransson, to Soren Joransson and Karna Nilsdotter. After his parents and siblings converted from the national religion of Sweden -- Lutheranism -- to the Church of Latter Day Saints, the family was persecuted in Sweden. The family immigrated to the United States, with the intention of settling in Utah with the assistance of the church.
