    Alexander Cavers died at his home on McArthur avenue, Thursday evening at 10:30 after a lengthy illness. In July last he was compelled to go to bed and since that time had not been able to leave his room.

    Mr. Cavers was born in Beckwith on August 7, 1864, aged was in his 69th year. He was the son of the late Mr. Thomas Cavers and his wife Margaret Campbell, pioneer settlers of Beckwith. He was married in Carleton Place to Miss Catherine Hyslop, who survives. Following the marriage the couple took up residence in Beckwith where he was one of the best known farmers of the community, remaining there until five years ago when he retired and with his wife and family moved to Carleton Place to reside.

    Mr. Cavers was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and was prominent in all departments. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Stewart Cavers, Carleton Place, and three daughters, (Isobel) Mrs. Duncan Stewart, Appleton; (Ethel) Mrs. Leon Tuttle, Stamford, Conn., and (Meda) Mrs. H. McRae, Beckwith; three brothers, James, Hamilton; Peter, Detoit, Mich., and Edward Cavers, of Pilot Mound, Man., and three sisters, Mrs. Jane Funerton, Ramsay; Miss Christena, Carleton Place, and Mrs. Margaret Lester, Ottawa. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon from his late residence at 2:30 to St. Fillan's cemetery.

    Alexander married Catherine E. Hislop in 1894. Catherine (daughter of Nianin Hislop and Isobella Stewart) was born on 17 Nov 1871 in Arnprior, McNab Twp, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; died on 4 Jul 1944 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in United Cemeteries (Maplewood-St. Fillians-Pine Grove), Beckwith Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
