    John's parents married 24 Jan 1849 at Lanark Co. and his father was recorded as being of "S. Sherbrooke". We find John with his parents in S. Sherbrooke Twp. on the 1852 Census, enumerated 12 Jan 1852, aged 3 (at next birthday) and at Bathurst Twp. on the 1861 Census, enumerated 14 Jan 1861, aged 11 years.

    He married Isabella (Bella) Davidson McLaren 7 Apr 1874 at Bathurst Twp., Lanark Co. and his birthplace on his marriage registration was "S. Sherbrooke" and his age was recorded as 24 years. His 1901 Census at Turtle Mountain, Lisgar, Manitoba records his date of birth as 28 Dec 1852. John died age 66.
