    James Ferrier Obituary
Ea-------------d of the death of Mr James Ferrier, one of the pioneer residents of Dummer. Mr. Ferrier's father was a native of Scotland, coming to this country in 1815, landing at Brockville and settling at Perth where the subject of this sketch was born in 1818. The family removed to Dummer in 1831, when the setters had to dispute possession with bears and wolves; so that James Ferrier was not only one of the earliest, but one of the longest residents of this county having been in it half a century. Mr Ferrier was one of the volunteers from this vicinity who made the memorable march to Toronto in the troublous times of 1837. During the latter part of his life, Mr. Ferrier, who was unmattied, lived with his sister, Mrs. John Blamer, a short distance from town. Mr Ferrier was a good citizen and lived a life that won for him the general respet of the community. The funeral takes place on Thursday, the remains being buried at South Dummer.
