Notes: Walter James Miller served in the Royal Dragoons as a motorcycle rider. In France near Caen, after being wounded by a gernade Lieutenant Miller and his Sargent were was captured by the Germans and was being marched to POW camp when he and a comrade jumped into a canal in order to escape their captors. They were able to swim to safety back to the Allied sector. He also recieved a bullet wound that caused a perment injury and because of this injury (the bullet caused a vasectomy) Walter was unable to father any of his own children. Walter married Catherine Georgina Benninger about 1948.
