    This contradicts Peter Munro document:
Peter (age 52, a weaver) and Mary Munro and family traveled to Canada from Argyleshire Scotland in 1820 on either the ship '?b?Brook?/b?' (7 families, Transatlantic Society) departed 9 July 1820, arriving 21 Au 1820, Dougal Cowan, Master or the '?b?Prompt?/b?' (370 people, 33 families were members of Lesmahago Society), departed 4 July 1820, arriving at Quebec 4 Sep 1820, Joseph Nairn, Master.

Traveled to Canada with Dobbie family, later the families were to intermarry.

    Residence:
Settled on Dalhousie C1 L10. Moved to Bathurst in 1835.

The land is described as rough and stony, and not suitable for extensive agriculture. Inspected by the author about 1934, he notes very little improvements have been made to it. Practically all the tillable land has been broken and is in crop by the present owner, but the greater portion of the acreage is still in its original state. He continues, "A good road runs along the northwest boundary of the lot from the village of Watson's Corners, which is not more than two miles away. The concession road, however, on which the farm faces has never been opened up for traffic, although there is abundant evidence to show that this road has been used to some extent in the early days. The right-of-way is now overgrown with trees and shrubbery and is altogether impassable."

Peter Munro applied for a patent, 4 Apr 1838, as a member of the Lanark Society Settlers of 1820, for Dalhousie Twp Con 1 E1/2 Lot10. His patent had not arrived with those of the other settlers. The patent was granted 1 June 1938. On 8 July 1840 he sold the property to James MacMillan, 100 acres for ?50, who in turn passed it on to a son and daughter who later conveyed it to Charles McArthur. The property changed hands three times before being acquired by Charles Caldwell (owner in 1934).?i?
    ?/i?
Fire raged through this part of Lanark in 1870, and in 1934 only foundations of the buildings were evident. A spring, located on the SE corner of the lot, about 25 yards from the NE boundary, close to the division road between the townships of Dalhousie and Lanark was known as the Munro spring (1934). The traveled road runs along the NW side of the farm.

    Land & Property:
20 Jan 1835, he purchased the rear part of the W1/2 of ?b?L6 C3 Bathurst ?/b?from John McNie for ?65. It was?b? ?/b?situated about ten or eleven miles west of Perth (63 acres adjacent to front part of West half of ?b?C3?/b? ?b?L6 Bathurst ?/b?owned by son John in 1850's). The deed was registered 9 July 1845. Peter, his son, was a resident on this property.

Peter Munro lived on this property for the rest of his life and when he died this property transferred to his youngest son Roderick, who in turn left the property to his grand-niece Mary Jane Munro.
Peter Munro's will was witnessed by Andrew Miller and James Patterson.

Marriage records have not been located but it is believed that they may have been married by Dr. Gemmill, the first minister to serve the Dalhousie settlers on a regular basis. His records have never been located. In 1835, the Munro family moved to the 3rd Concession of Bathurst, close to where the Miller family had settled.

John Munro was the eldest son of Peter Munro. He lived on what was later known as the Alex Stewart farm, front part of West half of ?b?Lot 6 C 3 Bathurst ?/b?(approximately 50 acres). The deed from John Gray is dated 3 November 1854, registered 17 Dec 1855, and sold 22 September 1860 to Thomas Miller for $1200, double the price he paid in 1854. His property adjoined the 63 acre farm on which Peter Munro Sr. lived after moving from Dalhousie Twp.

In 1860, John Munro (at age 56) moved, with 3 daughters, to Bruce Cty, ON to continue farming. It appears that an older brother, Neil, had moved to Bruce County in 1856 with his family, coming directly from Argyleshire, Scotland.

Shortly after the Am. Civil War (1861-64) he moved again, with his remaining sons (Thomas, John,William) to Minnesota, where Peter already resided, and continued to farm. Descendants (1934) were living in Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota.

John Munro returned to Paisley ON, in Bruce Co in later years. He died, age 71, at the home of his daughter Rose Ann in Underwood, ON and the body was returned to Perth with by sons-in-law George McKay and Thomas Hopper for burial.

In the 1841 Census he is located on Bathurst C3 L7W and arrived from Scotland in 1820, Presbyterian, two born in Scotland and 5 born in Canada.

?i?Walsh County Record, Grafton, North Dakota, Wednesday, April 19, 1899
    ?b??/i?Death of Mrs. R. Weagant
?/b?Mrs. R. Weagant quietly passed away Thursday morning, April 13, at 6 o'clock; aged 65 years; the immediate cause of her death being paralysis of the bowels. Mrs. Weagant's maiden name was Mary Miller, she was born in the month of May 1834, in the county of Lanack (sic), Canada. In the spring of 1857 she was married to R. Weagant. The same year Mr. Weagant came to Minnesota ande settled in Wabasha county and the year after Mrs. Weagant followed. In 1878 they moved to Cass county and from there came to Grafton in 1882. Mrs. Weagant was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her; all were present at the funeral with the exception of the youngest, Charles, who is serving his country in the Philippines.

Mrs. Weagant was a noble Christian woman; her many good qualities had drawn around her a large circle of warm friends, who extend heartfeelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and children in their sorrow. One of Mrs. Weagant's last conscious acts was to read a letter from her son, Charlie, written in the Philippines; she expressed herself as being bery glad to hear from him, but shortly after began to fail; this was on Tuesday and death occurred as stated above on early Thursday morning.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church and was largely attended. The casket was literally covered with beautiful wreaths of flowers, silent tokens of sympathy and esteem of friens. Rev. Dr. McDonald preached an appropriate funeral sermon; he referred to the deceased's true Christian life, she had been a member of the Presbyerian church for seventeen years, being among the first to join; and although for the past few years, owing to ill health, she was unable to attend, her good influence and sympathies were there. Rev. Mr. Newcomb assisted Dr. MacDonald in conducting the services. The singing was beautiful and appropriate.

Mrs. Robert Miller of Minneapolis attended the funeral of her sister Mrs. R. Weageant; Herman Weagant was here from St. Hiliare, and Mrs Mary McJannett and Miss Lizzie Weagant came from Minot and Mr and Mrs Will Weagant from Cavalier. Miss Lizzie Weagant will remain at home.

Mary married Roderick Weagant about 1856. Roderick (son of John Weagant and Christina McKenzie) was born in Apr 1835 in Bathurst Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 25 Apr 1906 in Park River, Walsh County, North Dakota, United States; was buried in Grafton City Cemetery, Grafton, Walsh County, North Dakota, United States. Notes:

James left home shortly after his father's death, when he was a young man of about nineteen or twenty years of age, and spent some years farming in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota. During one summer in Minnesota, he was employed as a sheaf-binder on one of the old-time reapers. The knotter attachment for binding the sheaves had not been invented at tha time and it required two men to bind the grain by hand as it was elevated to a platform erected on the machine.

The fact that his uncle John and cousins were located in Minnesota at this time was the determining factor in leading James Munro to the United States. Some years after locating in Minnesota he acquired a quarter-section of land in the neighbourhood of Crookston and did some improvement work on the same but abandoned the property before securing his title. The writer (Peter Munro) and his father visited this farm in the summer of 1915 and although that was a banner year for wheat raising, this particular quarter-section was not in crop. It appeared to be situated in a low-lying part of the country and apparently was not suitable for farming purposes.

James Munro appears to have returned to Canada from Minnesota in 1881 and in the followiing year he married Fanny McKerracher. They were married on March 8th 1882 and at that time james was twenty-nine years of age and his wife was nineteen.

On his return from Minnesota, James conveyed his interest in the 'forty acre' farm to his brother John William who had been carrying on the work of the farm (with his mother and sister Rose Ann) since James left home. The date of the transfer was 1 October 1886.

During the first year after his marriage James Munro rented the farm of his brother-in-law, Thomas McKerracher, in the 6th concession of Bathurst. This farm was his wife's home and was granted by the Crown to John McKerracher about the year 1819. It remained in the McKerracher name for four generations after the grant was issued.

After spending one year on a rented farm, James Munro purchased for himself a small farm of eighty acres, more or less, on the Upper Scotch Line, in the township of Burgess, County of Lanark. (E1/2 L14 Con 10 Burgess), about six and one-half miles directly south west of the town of Perth. James Munro purchased this farm from George Hossie who owned considerable property in that neighbourhood in the early years. It is interesting to note that a number of farms in this part of the county were originally granted by the Crown on 17 April 1816 to James Bryce, who was the father of Mrs. George Hossie. James Bryce held the honour for some time of woning the first and only team of oxen in Bathurst Township.

James Munro was buried in the Scotch Line Cemetery, where his mother, sister Rose Ann and brother John had been buried before him. This small cemetery is situated about one-half mile from the farm where James Munro lived for almost forty-five years.
