Late Mr Young Millar
Pakenham and the surrounding district was saddened Monday morning when it learned that a life long resident of the township, Mr Young Millar, had passed away in his 80th year. Deceased had been seriously ill for the past month with flu which later developed into pneumonia. Deceased was born in 1852, a son of the late Christopher Millar and Elizabeth Comba. Of the family only one brother, Mr Peter Millar in his 94th year, remains. The late Mr Millar was a staunch supporter of the Conservative party and work tirelessly in its behalf. Until the New Year, the late Mr Millar had taken an active interest in the community. Deceased was a member of St Andrew's United Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his widow, who was formerly Jessie Campbell MacDowall, one son Ernest Millar of the Bellamy Road, six daughters, Flossie, Mrs Lloyd Smith of Carleton Place; Maud, Mrs Thompson, of Kingston; Ethel, Mrs Allan Wood, Indian Head; Jessie, Mrs Julian, Almonte; Bertha, Mrs Robert Royce, White Lake and Mrs Raycroft of Darling. The funeral took place on Thursday of this week from his late residence to St Andrew's United Church. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The services were conducted by his pastor, Rev J.P. Falconer. The pallbearers were: ? Aubrey Hunt, William Jordan, Len Mayne, Otto Hientz, Ira Duego and George Comba.

MRS. ROBT. ROYCE
Mrs. Robert Royce of White Lake district passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday morning, Dec. 3. She was going around doing her usual work when she suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Royce was the former Bertha Alice Miller, a daughter of the late Young Miller and his wife Mary Ellis. She was in her 69th year. In 1897 she was married to Robert Royce who predeceased her in April 1929. Left to mourn the loss of a loving mother are, Melville of Almonte; Oliver of White Lake and Lilburn at home; Eva, Mrs. James Raycroft of Blakeney; Stella, Mrs. Wilbert Pierce of Arnprior; Leeta, Mrs. Regie Bowden of Clayton; Rena, Mrs. Grant Patterson of Carleton Place; Vera, Mrs. Albert Seward of Pakenham; one son, Delmer died in 1937. Two sisters, Mrs. Walter Julian of Almonte and Mrs. Allan Wood of Indian Head, Sask.; and one half-sister, Mrs. Anna Raycroft and a brother, Mr. Ernest Miller of Cedar Hill also survive. She was a member of the United Church. Besides the wreaths and sprays from the family and friends were wreaths from the H.E.P.C., and the Blakeney Hunt Club. The funeral was held on Friday at 1.30 and burial was in Cedar (Hill Cemetery.) Rev. Mr. Jasper of White Lake officiated. The pallbearers were John Miller, Clifford Miller, Lawson Miller, Bert Julian, Billie Miller, and George Ellis

Bertha married Robert Allan Royce in 1897. Robert was born in 1853 in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 27 Apr 1929 in Mississippi Mills (Pakenham), Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedar Hill, Mississippi Mills (Pakenham), Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. MRS. JESSIE MAY JULIAN
The death of Mrs. Jessie May Julian, widow of Walter Julian, occurred at the Almonte Nursing Home on Friday, August 16th, 1974. She was in her 93rd year. Mrs. Julian was born at Cedar Hill, daughter of the late Young Miller and his wife Mary Elizabeth Ellis. In 1906 she married Walter Julian, who predeceased her in 1951, and came to reside in Almonte. Of this union Mrs. Julian is survived by four sons, Archie, Albert and Eric of Almonte, Lloyd of Hanover, Ontario and three daughters, Mary (Mrs. John Poynter), Carleton Place, Edna (Mrs. Rene McKinnon), Hull, Quebec, and Betty (Mrs. Roger Moodie) of Kanata. Three sons predeceased her; Harold, George and Bert and four children died in infancy. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Allan Woods (Ethel), of Indian Head, Saskatchewan, also survives. The funeral took place on Monday, August 19th from the Comba Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. and burial was in the Auld Kirk. Rev. Robert McCrea conducted the services. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Ray Julian, Terry Julian, Allan Julian, Kim Julian and Milton Saunders and a family friend, Joe Bowman.

Friends may call at the Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte, for visiting on Friday from 2 to 9 PM, thence to Zion United Church, Dedar Hill, for service on Sunday at 3 pm. Reverend Cecil Dodds officiating. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations made to Zion United Church appreciated.
