    Passing Is Mourned Of Henry Gillies Aged 82 Years
    ARNPRIOR, July 1. - (Special)

    Tribute was paid here this afternoon to the memory of one widely known throughout the Ottawa Valley, Henry Guilles, aged 82 years. In the early days of Lanark County, four brothers came from Lanark, in Scotland, and their names became inscribed indelibly on Canada's industrial life. They were George, James, David and John Gillies, names associated with one of Canada's large industrial enterprises.

    Henry Gillies was the son of George and he, too lumbered, but not to as large an extent as other relatives of the name. He came from Lanark to the Ottawa Valley about three-quarters of a century ago and more than 50 years ago he was married to Mary MacBride, sister of the late Hon Morrison M. MacBride.

    Mr. Gillies was 82 year of age, a citizen of many splendid qualities, a staunch member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, and well known and highly respected by a wide circle.

    Surviving are his widow; one son, Arch Gillies, of Dollard, Sask.; and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Cotie, of Arnprior, and Mrs. Garfield Barrie, of McNab Township, all of whom were here for the funeral.

    Mr. Gillies had been ill only a few days and died in an Ottawa hospital. Rev. L. H. Fowler, of Renfrew, conducted the services at the home and the graveside.

Grandmother of John (Tammy), James (Karen), Jeffrey (Valerie), Ann Marie (Bryan) and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by siblings David, Archie, Margaret and Florence. Her family wish to thank the caregivers at Bonnechere Manor, our mother's home for many years, for their excellent and devoted care.     Dad passed away peacefully, in hospital, Perth, with his loving family by his side, on Monday, September 7, 2015. Donald Argyle Somerville, in his 90th year. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ida Somerville, and by his daughter Donna, as well as his siblings: Jack, Isabelle, Florence and Blanche.
    Don was the beloved husband for over 66 years to Rose (nee` McPhee), of Perth, and much loved and respected father to Dale (Irene) Somerville, of Addison, and Lindsay (Barbara) Somerville, of Perth.
    Cherished grandfather to Martin, David (Mary Jane), and Thomas, great grandfather to Loranna (Kyle), Jessica (Steve), and Emilee, and great-great grandfather to Savannah and Carsen.
    Our father worked as a trucker for Reis Equipment in Carp, for many years and loved to work on small gas engines as a hobby, and he travelled all over Eastern Ontario, proudly demonstrating his antique gas engines at community fairs and exhibits, a passion that he shared with his sons and grandsons.
    To honour Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to Greenwood Cemetery, on Saturday, September 26, at 11:00 am for a graveside service to honour him. A reception will follow at Middleville Community Hall, and all are welcome.
    In lieu of flowers, donations to Greenwood Cemetery or to Perth Community Care Activity Centre, would be appreciated.

    Entered into rest, peacefully with his family by his side at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street Site, on Saturday November 5, 2011. James David Austin Cotie, longtime resident of Brockville, age 75 years. Beloved husband and dear friend of 53 years to Bernice (Whittle) Cotie. Dear father of John Cotie (Tammy) of Brockville and James Cotie (Karen) of Elizabethtown. Loving grandfather of Harper, Emerson, Jade and Evan. Lovingly remembered as "Uncle David" to Phillip, Tana, Tyla and Haley Gilbert. Brother of Ann Dixon (Steve) of Brockville, Mary Borthwick (Burt) of Oakville and Helen Shea (John) of Edmonton. David is also survived by dear friends Brenda Beattie, Don Beattie, Doug Beattie and Judy Stewart. Pre-deceased by his parents James Alfred and Mary (Gillies) Cotie.

    Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday November 10, at 11a.m. In memoriams to Centennial Road Church, Ottawa Heat Institute or C.H.E.O. would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. "Give your Loved ones a hug and give them the roses while they are here."
