    Mrs. J. T. Somerville
On Saturday evening the last call to pass on to the home beyond, came to one of our older and well respected citizens of our community in the person of Mrs. John T. Somerville, who for some time had been in falling health. Elizabeth Ann Rodger was the fourth child of Wm. Rodger and Jane Stewart and was born Nov. 1858, on the farm at Arklan where her brother D. S. Rodger now lives. On October 8th, 1890, she was united in marriage to John T. Somerville and they made their home in this community. To them were granted a family of six children, Jennie, Mrs. David McFarlane; Arthur, William, Rodger of Perth; Eric, Lanark; Ida C. of Lyons; Helen, Mrs. Alva Rintoul of Ramsay. Mrs. Somerville, while one of the busy home-loving kind, was a faithful, loving wife and mother, yet she always found time to attend those, causes which stand for the highest and best in community life, as long as her health permitted. She was a member for a number of years in the W.M.S., a member of the Ladies' Aid and for many years an active member of the W. I. We extend our sympathy to all those bereaved, the husband and the family, also her sisters, Isabella, Mrs. Wm. J. Affleck of Toronto; Mary, Mrs. Geo, Stead of Hopetown; Maud and a adopted sister, Mrs. M. Darling of New York, and one brother, David S. on the homestead. The funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Lowrie. Many floral tributes were in evidence from W.M.S., Hunters' Club, W. I. and friends and relatives. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery at Middleville.

Elizbeth married John Thompson Somerville in 1890. John (son of John M. Somerville, Sr. and Catherine "Katie" Ballantyne) was born on 25 Dec 1858 in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 27 Jun 1941 in Middleville Pioneer Cemetery, Middleville, Lanark Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Middleville, Lanark Highlands, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Final Tribute Paid To Accident Victim
A tragic accident at his place of employment, the Fleetwood Garage in King Township, Ont, Friday morning, claimed the life of Gordon MacFarlane, wellknown Almonte young man. A son of David and the late Mrs MacFarlane, Gordon had a wide circle of friends in Almonte and district, and many felt a distant sense of shock and loss at his untimely end. Adding to the sadness of his passing was the fact that he had been married only two months ago to Ruth Barr of this town. The sincere sympathy of the town and surrounding community is extended to the young widow, the father, the members of the immediate family, and others who mourn his loss.

Born twenty-five years ago at McKillop Township in Huron County, Gordon moved to Almonte with his family when he was 16 years of age. He had lived here since, except for a period of study in Toronto and the Southern States, until shortly before his wedding in October. Since their marriage the young couple had been residing in King. There survive, in addition to his wife and father, two sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs Allan Thompson of the 7th line of Ramsay and Jean, a student at the Eastern Bible College, Peterborough, and two brothers, Robert and Lloyd of Almonte. Also surviving is his aged grandmother, Mrs George MacFarlane, and an number of uncles and aunts. The largely-attended funeral was held on Monday afternoon from the Comba Funeral Home, with Rev Arthur Hirtle and Rev T. DeCoury Rayner conducting the service. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which the young man was held. Interment was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Desmond Smithson, William Johnson, William Blakeley, Carman Munro, Ronald Thompson and Morley Alexander.
