Mr. Armstrong was an efficient and successful laborer in the Lord's vineyard, which he was obliged to relinquish from a severe chronic affection several years before his death , which took place at Thorold, Ont., Feb. 9th, 1875, at the age of 65 years. No issue resulted brom this marriage. Widow Armstrong still resides in her own house where her husband died.

James married Lydia Ann Adams on 9 Oct 1851. Lydia (daughter of Capt. Joshua Adams, Esq. and Elizabeth "Betsy" Chipman) was born in 1830 in Glen Tay, (Adamsville), Bathurst Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was christened on 22 Jan 1830 in Perth Methodist Church Circuit, Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 19 Feb 1914 in North Grimsby, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada.
