    Douglas Gibson, fifteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Gibson, died at the Lacombe Hospital last night. Douglas had been in poor health for several months, and was taken to the hospital about two weeks ago, but his condition steadily became worse and despite every care passed peacefully away on Wednesday night. He had been suffering from rheumatic fever which later affected his heart.

    Private service will be held at the home at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6th, 1930. Funeral will be held from St. Andrew's United Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 6th.

    The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Gibson in their bereavement.

    Col. Gibson graduated from Bow Valley Central High in Cluney, Alberta and joined the Royal Canadian Navy as an officer cadet. After his initial year at U. of A. he worked for several years as a surveyor in the seismic industry throught Western Canada. After leaving geophysics he returned to U. of A. for another year and became a realtor, later joining Southland Canada and becoming Dist. Sales Mgr. for 31 7-11 stores.

    Becoming involved in real estate development led to a stint as Area Mgr. for Western Realty Projects with responsibily for Southern Alta. In 1976 he accepted a position as President of United Management Ltd. and ultimately Managing Director of Alstin Holdings Ltd. the holding company of the Singer family of Calgary.

    In 1986 he acquired the Bobtail Ranch in Penticton, B.C. where he raised a commercial herd and pedigree Angus cattle (parallel with his grandfather Gibson) with his wife Brigitte. His other interests have included sailing, flying and the military. He is a certified offshore sailor, fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He served as Hon. Lieutenant Colonel of the 15th Edmonton Medical Company and assumed the same position with the Calgary Highlanders in 2001. In Dec. of that year he assumed the position of Hon. Colonel with the Regiment.

    He has two sons and three daughters.

    Robert James Sinclair 'Bob' Gibson

    Robert (Bob) James Sinclair Gibson passed away on March 23, 2020 at the age of 73 years, after a battle with cancer. Bob was born in Bentley, Alberta October 4th, 1946.
    Bob is survived by his children Robert "Ian" Gibson; Chad Stuart Gibson (Melody); Laura Ann Law (Jason); Amanda Francis Daniels (Donovan); Grandchildren Evan, Hadley, Harrison, Rowan; and Miah; his sister Patricia Linn (Doug); brother Gary Gibson (Barbara); brother Donald Gibson (Isabelle); brother-in-law Allan Fraser; cousins Sharon and Marlene Watts, Eileen Schwindt (Keith), and Doug Gibson; long time companion Brigitte Daniels as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert Stuart Gibson, his mother Verna May Gibson and sister Gail Elizabeth Fraser.
