    Ferguson - On Thursday evening 5th October, Violet McDougall, relict of the late Duncan Ferguson, North Sherbrooke, aged 81 years.

    Violet was born 1812 in Kilmorich, Argyllshire, Scotland the daughter of Alexander McDougall and Janet Clark. She came with her parents to Canada where she married Duncan Ferguson, who was also from Argyllshire. They lived in North Sherbrooke Township, Lanark County, Ontario. Violet died there on Oct.5,1893, from paralysis, which she had for 3 years.

    Obituary - Perth Courier - March,1912 -
    DEATH OF MRS. EBENEZER GEDDES- After two weeks illness of pneumonia, Mrs. Catherine Geddes, widow of the late Ebenezer Geddes of North Sherbrooke, passed away on Saturday, March 23rd. The late Mrs. Geddes lived all her life in the township, being a daughter of the late Duncan Ferguson of Elphin, where her brother Duncan still lives on the homestead at Elphin school. She married Mr. Geddes at an early age, and to them were born a family of eleven, eight sons and three daughters, of whom one daughter and two sons are dead. Those living are David and Adrian of Edmonton; Duncan at Dewdney, BC; William at Deanton, Saskatchewan; Mrs. G.A. Marion of Ottawa; Mrs. Jane Gilbert of Mississippi; James on the homestead at McLaren's Depot; and John at Snow Road. The funeral service was held in Snow Road Presbyterian Curch on Monday, the 25th of March, which was largely attended. Two months ago her son James was taken with Typhoid. His sister, Mrs. Gilbert, and brother John came to help nurse him and contracted the disease and were removed to Kingston General Hospital; then his wife and one of the nurses, Miss McIntyre, were taken with the same dread disease and taken to the hospital the day his mother died. Those in hospital are all recovering, and James is able to be around a little now.

    At McLaren's Depot, North Sherbrooke, Saturday, March 23rd, Catherine Ferguson, widow of the late Ebenezer Geddes, aged 75 years. A daughter of the late Duncan Ferguson, she was born in North Sherbrooke, at Elphin, where her brother Duncan still lives on the homestead. Marrying early, she and Mr. Geddes had a family of eight sons and three daughters, of whom, one daughter and two sons are dead. The survivors are; David & Adrian, at Edmonton; Duncan, at Dewdney, BC; William, at Deanton, Saskatchewan; Mrs. G.A.     North Sherbrooke, Nov 30th, Alex. Ferguson. He was born near Elphin, Oct 10, 1846. His first wife was Catherine Buchanan (Buchan), and his second, who survives him with four daughters, was the former Agnes Geddes. One son died in infancy and the eldest daughter, wife of Duncan Ferguson, jr., died a few years ago. The survivors are; Mrs. John McDougal, and Mrs. James Gilmour, of Elphin; Mrs. John Sergeant, of Harper, and Tena at home. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. McIntyre, of Dalhousie Lake. His brother, Duncan, died on Jan 1st, this year.

    Duncan Ferguson: Born, where he died in the old family homestead at Elphin, August 21, 1849. His wife, Deborah Love, died in May 1893. Heleaves one sister, Mrs. Peter McIntyre, of Elphin, and one brother, Alexander Ferguson. Three Sisters and one brother predeceased him; Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Nisbet, of Mallory, Minnesota; Mrs. E. Geddes, of Snow Road; and Peter Ferguson, of North Sherbrooke. Burial in Crawford's Cemetery.

    Ferguson - At Elphin on New Years Day one of North Sherbrooke's well known and highly esteemed residents died in the person of Duncan Ferguson. He didee at the old family residence where he was born on aug. 21st, 1849, and spent all his life. He has been ailing about a year with heart trouble. His wife, who was Deborah Love, died in May 1893, and after her death his sister, Mrs Peter McIntyre, lived with him. He leaves to mourn his loss one brother, Aleander Ferguson, and one sister, Mrs McIntyre. Three sisters and one brother predeceased him - Mrs Lee andMrs Nisbet of Mallory, Minn; Mrs E Geddes of Snow Road and Peter Ferguson of North Sherbrooke. In religion he was a Presbyterian and in politics a Reformer. The funeral on Wednesday, Jan 3rd, ws largely attended. A beautiful three-link wreath was placed on the csket by the members of Cornucopia Lodge, No. 299, IOOF of which the deceased was a member. The services at the home residence was conducted by the Odd Fellows and at Elphin church by the Rev. A. J. McMullen. The remains were laid to rest in Crawford cemetery beside those of his wife. Deceased was a reaader of the Courier from his boyhood days andhis home was always a place where friends or stranged found a welcome. Six grandsons are overseas with teh Canadian Forces.

    Mrs John McDougall
    Family and friends were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Agnes Jane McDougall on friday, November 6, 1970 at Kemptville District Hospital. Although she was in failing health for several years, her cheery, friendly manner and quiet personality, along with her faith and courage, made her a joy to be with. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

    Daughter of the late Alex Ferguson and his wife, Agnes Geddes, she was born on February 11, 1883 in the township of North Sherbrooke.

    On December 6, 1911, at Lanark, she was united in marriage to John McDougall, Prior to the purchase of their farm on the 8th line of Bathurst, they lived for a number of years at Elphin,

    Left to mourn her loss are three daughters, Florence (Mrs. Craig Greer), Maberly; Blanche (Mrs Charles Foster), Bathurst; Margaret (Mrs Russell Banville), Merrickville, and one son, Stanley, Oxford Mills. Also surviving is one sister, Katie (Mrs. John Sargeant), Bathurst; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, three sisters and one brother.

    The funeral service was conducted by Mr. Jensen of Oxford Mills from the Morrow Funeral Home, Perth, on Monday, Nov. 9, 1970. Interment was in Crawford's Cemetery, Elphin.

    The pallbearers were Kenneth Blair, James Rutherford, Harold Trueloove, Ernest Rogers, Lloyd McVeigh and William Charles.

    The beautiful floral tributes and donations to the Canadian Bible Society and The Ontario Heart Foundation showed the esteem in which Mrs McDougall was held.

    Mary Christena Ferguson
    The death of Mary Christena Ferguson occurred at the GWM Hospital, Perth, on Aug 10, from a heart seizure.

    A daughter of the late Alexander Ferguson and his wife Agnes Geddes, tena was born on the second line of North Sherbrooke. She received her education at SS No 2 and attended Elphin Presbyterian Church of which she was a member.

    After her father's deatah in 1917, she and her mother moved from the old homestead to Lanark. Her mother passed aaway in 1942. Although stricken with diabetes early in life, with the help of medical care and self denial, Miss Ferguson carried on a diligent, unassuming life until the fall of 1962 when ill health forced her to give up her home. since then she had been receiving care in several public and private nursing homes.

    Left to mourn are two sistsers, (Janie) Mrs. John McDougall, and (Katie) Mrs. John Sergeant, both of Perth RR 7, and several nieces and nephews.

    The funeral took place from Young's funeral home on Aug. 12. Pallbearers were Lloyd Knowles, John Lashley, Elwin McVeigh, and three nephews, Percy Fergusonn, Allie Sergeant, and Stanley McDougall.

    Beautiful floral tributes were silent testimony of esteem for deceased.

The parents have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood in their sore bereavement.
