    DEATH OF AN AGED CITIZEN
    A. Lambie, a name and person long familiar to the people of Plainview, a resident here since the spring of 1874, for some years in active business, but, being well advanced in life when he came among us, the later years have been spent in retirement. His wife having died a few years ago, his last days have been passed under the immediate care of his faithful daughter of Miss Maggie Lambie. The years of his life reach back almost to the beginning of the century, years that include within their scope nearly everything that we call modern.

Adam Lambie was born in Paisley, Scotland, in the year 1812. When eight years of age he came with his parents to Canada settling at Dalhousie, Ontario. He was married in the year 1834 to Miss Christina Bower, and moved to St. Lawrence county, New York, where he remained about ten years, when he returned to Canada as was engaged in business in Lanark, Ont., until coming west in 1866, when he located at Minnesota Lake in this state. In May, 1874, he came to Plainview which has since been his home, excepting a few months sojourn in Minneapolis.

He was a man of kindly disposition and of generous impulses, whose memory will be cherished in loving remembrance by his children, and held in high esteem by those who have enjoyed a close acquaintance with him. In religion, he was a Universalist, of which church he was almost a lifelong member.

As his age would indicate he was a man of strong constitution, remaining in comparative health until the last, yielding only to be the great leveler, Time.

Death came very quietly at the setting of the sun on December 17. He was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery, the funeral services being held in the Congregational church on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. F.H. Anderson officiating.

The family consisted of ten children, seven daughters and three sons, all of whom are living except Mrs. Elizabeth Felton, whose death was announced in this paper only one week ago. The surviving members are Mrs. Anna Parks, Mankato, Mrs. Jennie Merritt, St. Peter, Mrs. Agnes Barnes, Blue Earth City, Mrs. Ella Redding, Windom, D.D. Lambie, Great Falls, Mont., W.W. Lambie, St. Paul, James Lambie, Merriam Park, Miss Tena Lambie, Minneapolis, Miss Maggie Lambie, Plainview. These were all present at the funeral except D.D. Lambie, who is in Montana.

Family/Spouse: Christina Bower. Christina was born on 25 Mar 1815 in Scotland; died on 15 Nov 1890 in Plainsview, Wabasha County, Minnesota, United States; was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Plainsview, Wabasha County, Minnesota, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
