    Mr. Lambie, father of Geo. L. Lambie, Mrs. Townsend and Mrs. O. Barber, died at the residence of Mr. Townsend, Sunday morning. Funeral Tuesday at 10:30 AM.

    One of Cherry County's Pioneers Goes To Her Reward ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Mrs. David Hanna, one of the oldest of Wood Lake's and Cherry County's pioneers died at her home in Wood Lake last Thursday. Although in feeble health for some time, her death was unexpected. She was well known in Ainsworth and community.

    Janet Lambie was born October 11, 1854 at Hammond, St. Lawrence County, New York, and departed this live at her home in Wood Lake, Nebraska, January 28, 1931 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 17 days.

    Her mother died when she was two and one-half years old and at the age of 12 years she moved to Minnesota with her father, brother and four sisters.

    On June 22, 1875, she was married to David Hanna at Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. Seven children were born to this union, of whom Jessie, Ada and Ruth were called Home when between the ages of one and two years.

    The bereaved husband and the remaining children: Neil Hanna of Wood Lake, Nebr.; Mrs. Florence Griot of Chadron, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Mickey of Wood Lake, Nebr.; Mrs. Charlotte Ralston of Ainsworth, Nebraska and ten grandchildren, all of who survive her to mourn her loss. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. [Mary] Barber of Willamina, Oregon, Mrs. [Nancy] Marsh of Chehalis, Washington, and Miss Annie Lambie, who has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Hanna for the past few years.
    Mr. and Mrs. Hanna were pioneers in this section of the country, Mr. Hanna coming in 1883 and the family settling here in 1884. They resided at their ranch home until 1904 when the moved to their present home in Wood Lake.

    Mrs. Hanna had a very kind and friendly nature and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She had the opportunity of studying singing and piano in her youth and always gave very freely to her musical talent. While primarily a home maker, she took an interest in public affairs and took an active part in all affairs of the church and community, and her help could be depended upon until failing health limited her activities. She as a valued member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as an officer of the Grand Chapter during two sessions. She also belonged to the Ladies Aid and the Wood Lake Culture Club. Her religious faith was steadfast and sincere.

    From 1905 on, Jefferson County, Oregon made many changes. Rumors of a railroad were in the air. W.C. Barber, along with J.C. Cockerham and Harold Lawrie saw the need for a townsite. So they platted Culver in the heart of this lovely valley, on land that was Dan Swift's homestead. With the coming of the railroad, Culver became a thriving little town with the post office, school, two churches, two hotels, two general merchandising stores, a drug store, a weekly newspaper, a lumber yard, and a grain warehouse. The depot was a busy place every evening when the populace all turned out to watch the mail and passenger train arrive. Passenger trains didn't arrive until April 15, 1911.

    Services for Dora Wilma Yocom of Willamina will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.
    Private vault interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

    Mrs. Yocom died April 8, 1996, in Sheridan. She was 97.

    Born June 18, 1898 in Willamina, she was the daughter of Roy B. and Margie Barber Lamson.

    Mrs. Yocom was a member of the Primrose Rebekah Lodge of Willamina. She had lived in the Willamina area all her life.

    Survivors include a son, O.C. Yocom of McMinnville; three brothers, Kenneth Lamson and Keith Lamson, both of Willamina, and Ira Lamson of Prineville; a sister Geraldine McNamer of Oregon City; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Wright and Zelda Johnson.

Siblings: Dora Wilma Lamson Yocom, Ruth McKinley Lamson Wright, Geraldine L. Lamson McNamar, Zelda L. "Tootsie" Lamson Johnson, Kenneth Francis Lamson and Keith Cameron Lamson.

    Ira Lamson married Beatrice O. "Bea" Beasley May 13, 1939. Their children are Sue Lamson Davenport and Sharon Kay "Sheri" Lamson Lowery. A son, Daniel Guy Lamson, died June 18, 1973. Ira's wife predeceased him April 23, 1992.

    Ira married Beatrice Opal Beasley on 13 May 1939.     Funeral services for Keith C. Lamson of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors. The Rev. Jim Peterson will officiate. Interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in McMinnville.

    Mr. Lamson died at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007. He was 93.

    Born in Willamina on Aug. 27, 1913, he was the son of Roy B. and Margie (Barber) Lamson.

    He grew up on the family farm. While in school he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball.

    He lived in West Fir, near Eugene, where he worked at a mill, then returned to the farm. He loved living and working on a farm.

    Mr. Lamson was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Ira, and four sisters, Ruth Wright, Dora Yocum, Geraldine McNamar and Zelda Johnson.
