    Born September 23rd, 1819--son of John McKercher, farmer, Lachine and Janet McGregor. Baptized November 20th at St. Gabriel's Presbyterian, Montr?al.
    He was married first, March 23rd, 1841 at First Presbyterian Church, Perth, Lanark Co. by the Rev. William Bell to Catherine Hill (c1822-1855) and second October 22nd, 1855 [un-sourced) at Lanark Co. to Sarah White (c1828-1881). His obituary in the Christian Guardian July 23rd, 1879 records his death at 3rd line, Baltimore [Bathurst Township].

    "Palmer. The funeral of the late Mrs. Andrew Palmer, who died in Regina, on Saturday the 13th, took place from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Palmer, John street, on Thursday last, to Elmwood Cemetery. Service was conducted here at the home and grave by Rev. J. H. Miers, of Knox church, and pallbearers were Messers. William Munroe, John Campbell, Thomas Hossie, Robert Palmer, Henry Palmer and William Wilson. Mrs. Palmer died at the home of her son, Arnold W., 2134 Retallack street, Regina, after an illness of several months, on Sunday morning, the 13th. For a number of years she was a prominent member and worker in Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Regina, and before the body was shipped to Perth for interment, services were conducted at the home by Rev. H. D. Leitch. Mrs. Palmer was a daughter of the late Donald McKerracher of Brooke, and is survived by four sisters and one brother: Mrs. James Munroe, Scotch Line; Mrs. Robert Durris, Perth; Mrs. Wm, Hossie, 3rd line Bathurst; Mrs. John McGee and John McKerracher, Seattle, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Palmer farmed for a number of years on the 4th line of Bathurst moving later to Perth, and fifteen years ago the family went West to Regina, Sask. Mr. Palmer died seven years ago. Three sons survive: Arnold W., in Regina, and Wilfred and Dr. Murray in Calgary. Many people in town and country have kindly remembrances of both deceased and her husband who passed on before her. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Palmer and baby accompanied the body to Perth and are remaining for a few days visiting old friends and relatives. "

    Yesterday morning there came over the telephone the shocking news that Mrs. James W. Campbell had died suddenly in Kingston. It appears that she went to bed in her usual state of health on Monday night and was found dead in her bed on Tuesday morning. She lived with her daughter Lila, Mrs. Wm. Drysdale, in the city but kept up an active correspondence with friends, and retained a constant interest in her old home in Lanark. In the summer season she spent a number of weeks with her daughter and friends in Lanark and at Dalhousie Lake, and nothing was noted in her appearance to indicate the presence of any serious organic trouble.

    Elizabeth McKerracher, for that was her maiden name, was born at the village of Brooke, in the Township of Bathurst, in the year 1860. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel McKerracher. When twenty years old she became the wife of Mr. James Campbell of Lanark Village. They settled down in a comfortable home in Lanark, where for a number of years to follow, Mr. Campbell was a successful and enterprising man of business. In 1899 Mr. Campbell died, and the wife and four children were left to face the world. In the family were John, Maynard. Wilmer, and Lila. Although very young in years the eldest sons managed to carry on the business, which has been continued down to this day under the ownership and personal management of Mr. John Campbell. Maynard accepted a position in Sudbury, Ont., with a successful business firm. Wilmer held a position with Messrs. Boyd Caldwell and Co. at Appleton until the war broke out when he enlisted and went overseas with the 21st Battalion. He distinguished himself over there, and at the present time occupies a position in the service in Canada. Miss Lila became the wife of Mr. William Drysdale, of Lanark, but moved to Kingston a few years ago as a point more convenient for Mr. Drysdale in his work as a commercial traveller. Her brother and sisters surviving are Daniel, at Fallbrook, Mrs. Wm. Hossie of Glentay, Mrs. James Munro of Scotch Line, Mrs. Robt. Burris of Perth, Mrs. And. Palmer of Regina, and Mrs. Jno. McGee, Seattle, Wash.

    Leaving her old Lanark home, where she had spent so many happy years, was a reluctant step, and nothing pleased her so much in her new home in Kingston, as when some Lanark friend of the old days would drop in. Mrs. Campbell was the soul of kindness. Hers was a helping hand. She had sympathy for sorrow, cheer for sadness, and encouragement for despondency. And her home reflected the character of her personality, where no person could enter and come away unprofitted by her gentle and kind companionship. Tomorrow the body will be laid away in the village cemetery.

    Her Wesleyan Baptismal Register records her birth on October 16th, 1849 but she was not baptized until April 28th, 1851. Her 1901 and 1911 Censuses record November 20th, 1851 and November 1859 respectively as her birth date and her Ontario Death Registration November 29th, 1849.

    Farmer Killed Near His Home
    A Bathurst farmer, Thomas R. Hossie, 79, died on Thursday afternoon, after the car which he was driving was struck by a CPR freight train about 2:15, at a level crossing on his farm property on the 3rd line of Bathurst.

    His autao, a 1956 model , was struck by a west-bound freight, and the impact hurled this vehicle about 30 feet into a ditch. Visability was good in both directions. Mr. Hossie was proceeding down a lane to his farm.

    Dr David Craig was summoned to the scene andMr Hossie was rremoved to the GWM Hospital by Blair and Son ambulance, where he passed away two hours later.

    The train crew were engineer George White and conductor Rod McGillis, both of Smiths Falls.

    The accident, the first train-car fatality in the district in several years, was investigated by Cpl. John Hillmer and Constable Martin Brindle of the Provincial Police Detachment at Perth.

    A former resident of this districty, William J. Rudsdale, died in hospital at Woodstock on Nov. 20, 1977
    Mr. Rudsdale was born at Glen Tay in 1903, a son of the late Richard Rudsdale and his wife, Lillian Dodds. He is survived by his wife, Mary, five daughters, several grandchildren and his sister, Margaret (Mrs. Vernon Wood) of Perth. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred, and his sister, Louise (Mrs. Mervyn Ferrier).
    The funeral was held from the Sydenham Funeral Home on Nov. 23 with burial at Verona where he had lived for some years.

    Christine was predeceased on February 2nd, 1997 by her beloved husband Clarence A. Ennis; she was the cherished mother of Tom (Linda) Ennis of RR#4 Perth, Hubert "Bud" (Elaine) Ennis of Greenbank and Peg (Keith Machan of RR#6 Perth: loved grandmother of Dawn and Blake, Jane and John and Grant and Blair. Christine will be sadly missed by her 14 Great grandchildren and sister Catherine Frizell, she was predeceased by twon brother Donald and sister Jean VandenBosch. She will be fondly remembered by brother-in-law Jean VandenBosch of Kemptville and sister-in-law Jean Hossie of Perth.
    Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth, Wednesday, June 11th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in St Paul's United Church, Perth on Thursday at 1 pm. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.

    Arthur passed away peacefully in Perth on Thursday, March 24th, 2016 with his loving wife of 50 years, Joan (Schumann) by his side. He was the beloved father of Judy (Dan) Ferrier and Randy Ferrier and very loving and proud grandfather "Dads" of Matthew Ferrier McCaffrey. Arthur was the dear brother of Dorothy (late Jack) Tysick and Helen (Leonard) Stead. He was predeceased by his parents Mervyn and Lousie (Rudsdale) Ferrier and sister Jean Ferrier and brother Keith (Margaret) Ferrier. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and staff at Perth Community Care Centre. Arthur will be long remembered for his sense of humour, quiet nature and his lifelong passion for horses. He was a farmer all of his life, farming his third generation farm on the Scotch Line into his eighties. Arthur was a proud member of the Belgian Association. We will miss him terribly, but knowing he's now in peace in Heaven most likely riding a horse, eases our pain.

    Dorry entered into rest with the Lord, in the presence of her family, in hospital, Perth on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Dorothea Louise Tysick (n?e Ferrier) of Perth was in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her parents Mervyn and Louise Ferrier (n?e Rudsdale); her daughter Linda; and by her siblings Arthur, Keith and Jean. Dorry was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Tysick. Cherished mother to Dianne (Robert) Pinder-Moss, of Gillies Corners; and Jim (Catherine) Tysick, of Perth. Dorry enjoyed special relationships with her five grandchildren, Vanessa (Chris Flieler), Alyssa, David, Jonathan (Rebekah) and Andrew. She will be fondly remembered by her surviving sister Helen (Leonard) Stead, of Hopetown; as well as her sisters-in- law, Joan and Margaret, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation took place at the O'DACRE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Victoria Street, Perth on Sunday, April 9, 2017. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. in St. James the Apostle Anglican Church, Perth, with the Rev. Kenneth O. Davis, officiating. Spring Interment, St. Stephens Anglican Church Cemetery, Brooke.     Stead, Alice "Helen" Lillian

    Helen passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 at the age of 84. She is now reunited with Leonard, her late husband of 60 years. Helen was the cherished mother of Cheryl Stead and Terry (Lynn) Stead, and the dear grandmother of Brandon (Tiffany) Stead, great-grandmother of Rowyn and Hunter. Helen was predeceased by her parents Mervyn and Louise (nee Rudsdale) Ferrier. She was the dear sister of the late Arthur Ferrier (Joan surviving), the late Keith Ferrier (Margaret surviving), late Dorothea "Dorry" (Jack) Tysick, and the late Jean Ferrier. Helen is survived by her sister-in-law Mildred Munro and predeceased by late Welly Munro, Frank (Kaye) Stead, Earl (Dorothy) Stead and Harold (Lilias) Stead. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

    Retiring in 1995 after 23 years at Imperial Optical in Welland, Helen and Leonard returned to Lanark to build their retirement home and to be reunited with family and friends.

    Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside ceremony at the Hopetown Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A reception and celebration of life will follow at Timber Run Golf Club Lanark, Ontario. In honour of Helen, memorial contributions to the Hopetown Cemetery or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.

    Margaret "Peggy" Louise (nee Rudsdale), late of Weyburn passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the age of 64 years. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, William and Mildred Rudsdale, sons, Christopher Scott and Tory Dean, sister, Linda and nephew, Alex. She leaves behind the father of her children, the man she oved, Carl Shangraw, her son Derrick, daughter, Trudy (David), three grandchildren, Cassandra (Jordan), Byron and Jackie, her sisters, Kim (Charlie), Carol (Phil), Ruth (Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Peggy was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1945. She grew up in Berona, Ontario, where she met Carl and married in 1963, at Portland Ontario. They resided in Harrowsmith, Ontario, until they moved to Weyburn in 1967 where she lived until her passing. Peggy spent most of her time volunteering at her church helping where she could. When she wasn't busy with the church she was doing her bible study, crafts and taking care of her family. she was a fun loving person and could always see the good in everyone and any situation she encountered. She truly enjoyed all of the visits from everyone and felt the love and encouragement that was sent her way. she especially enjoyed the time spent with her dear friend Florence. She treasured her fellowship with Yvonne, Pastor Harley and Rhonda. She looked forward to her games hights with family and friends. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone that came to know her over the years of her life. A memorial service was held Friday, September 25th, 2009 sy 2:00 pm from the Silver Heights Bible Church, Weyburn with Pastor Harley Porter officiating. Internment foolowed at the Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance.

    Entered her peace on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to the late Linda Thomas (2005), she was in her 51st year. Beautiful wife of Owen. Most loving and loved mother of Stevie (Clayton), Danika (Mike) and Courtney (Matthew). Angel Nanan to baby Willa. Dear sister to Vikki (Randy) Preece. She will be missed and warmly remembered by many family and friends who made her life full. Special thanks to nurses Joanne, Theresa and the team at Sts. Joseph's Home Care for their unparalleled support. A visitation will be held at L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa St. N. (905) 544-1147 on Thursday, October 18th from 7-9 pm and Friday, October 19th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 on Saturday, Octyober 20th at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Carluke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children's Aid Society of Hamilton's Holiday Family Sponsorship Program - or the like - would be appreciated.
