"DeKalb, Feb. 11th.--Last Thursday this entire community was saddened to learn of the death of S. Arthur Townsley, and also of his father, G. Loren Townsley, which occurred in less than twenty-four hours after that of his son. The former had always been a robust, healthy man, but was attacked with pneumonia on the Friday previous to his death. The deceased was thirty-one years of age, and leaves a wife and three small children to mourn his loss. His father had been in failing health for a few years past, but pneumonia also made him its victim. His two daughters, Miss Clara, of New York, and Mrs. Frank Decker, of Kearney, Neb., were sent for, the former arriving a few days before death entered their home, and the latter arriving Friday evening only to learn that brother and father had both gone to the world beyond. G. Loren Townsley was well known throughout the country, having at one time been overseer of the county house. He was sixty-eight years of age, and leaves a wife, two daughters, and a large circle of friends who will mourn the loss of both. Their funeral was largely attended from their late residence on Sunday at 11 a. m. Rev. Walker, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating and taking the following appropriate passage of Scripture as the foundation of his remarks: 'Saul and Jonothan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided.' 2 Samuel I Chapter and 23d verse."
