Duella "Del" Miller
Services for Duella "Del" Miller, 79, of Granite Falls, will be held Friday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls with burial in the St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and continue Friday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Echo.
Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at the Granite Falls Hospital.
Duella Henrietta Miller was born August 10, 1919, in Sparta township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, to Halvor and Constance (Fagerland) Thomasson. She was baptized in the Black Oak Lake on September 28, 1919, and confirmed there on November 26, 1933. She grew up on a family farm attending schools in Wegdahl and Montevideo. On August 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Wilfred Miller by Rev. O.H. Markgraf at her parent's farm. They lived in Granite Falls until 1944 when they moved to a farm by Wood Lake where they farmed until 1979 when they moved into the Henry Hill Apartments in Granite Falls. Wilfred died in November of 1979 and Del worked as assistant manager at the apartments for the next 10 years. Del continued to live in Granite Falls until her health began to fail and she required more care. She then lived with her daughter, Kathy, son-in-law Lanny, and family. Del attended church at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Posen Township where she was active in Ladies Aid. She became a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church when she moved to Granite Falls. Del enjoyed crocheting and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son and three daughters, Donald Miller and wife Phyllis of Vesta; Diane Boelter and husband Roger of Apple Valley; Kathy Boelter and husband Lanny of Clarkfield; and Donna Hagen and husband Michael of Burnsville; 11 grandchildren, Connie House; Kent Miller; Michele Traina; Tony Boelter, Ricky Boelter; Troy Boelter; Korey Boelter; Emily Boelter; Christina Hagen; Justin Hagen; and Briana Hagen; five great-grandchildren, Thomas, Kim and Kayla House; Chelsea and Tyler Traina; two sisters, Lindy Gatchell and husband Milt of Granite Falls; and Del's twin sister Doris Hempel and husband Vernon of Granite Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Thomasson and Violet Thomasson, both of Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Tom and LeRoy Thomasson, and two sisters, Gladys Schroeder and Marcy Teichert.
