    (Elphin News) - One of our oldest residents crossed that bourne from which none return about two weeks ago in the person of Mrs. James Gilmour. She being the same age as the Queen. She leaves a large family to mourn her loss: Alex. and Elizabeth at home; William, in North Sherbrooke; John, at Vennachar; Edward, at Ardoch; Mary (Mrs. Bain), at Fallbrook; and James, in Minnesota. Her husband preceded her to the grave about three years ago.

Janet died of Typhoid fever at the age of 21. Alex then married her sister, Isabella Gilmore on May 1,1873. She died 4 months later also from Typhoid fever. Alex then married Margaret McKay on Feb.14,1882.

    Gilmour - On Thursday evening, Nov. 8th, Mr. William Gilmour passed away at the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth at the age of 72 years. He was the third son of the late James Gilmour and Jessie Crawford. He was married to Mary McDonald of Palmerston, and he was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him as was shown by the very large funeral. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and one son, James of Harper, and three daughters, Mrs. Alex. McIntyre, Elphin; Mrs. John S. Nisbett, Lorenzo, Sask., and Mrs. Stanley Purdon, McDonald's Corners, and two brothers and one sister, John, of Denbigh; Edward of Rednersville, Ont., and Mrs. Alex. Duncan, Elphin. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Kenneth McCaskill, of McDonald's Corners and the Rev. Mr. Walsh of Maberly. The pallbearers were Messrs. Walter Geddes, Andrew Paul, Dan Geddes, Alex. McDougall, D. J. Nisbet and Howard McDougald. The floral offerings were a beautiful wreath from the family and a spray from the Elphin branch of the Women's Institute. The bereaved wife and family have the sympathy of the whole community.

    William married Mary McDonald on 19 Apr 1880 in Dalhousie Twp, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Rockwood Hospital, Kingston, July 12th, Mrs. Alex. Duncan. She was born in North Sherbrooke, the daughter of James Gilmour and Janet Crawford. Elizabeth Gilmour married Alex. Duncan 21 years ago last April. She was in her 72nd year and was the youngest of a family of eleven. There are two brothers surviving, John Gilmour, of Ardoch, and Edward Gilmour, of Rednersville. Burial in Crawford's cemetery.

    Peacefully, entered into rest at Lanark Lodge on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 in her 95th year. Beloved wife for 67 years of Jim McIntyre; loving mother of Sandra, Blake (Angie) and Brenda. Cherished grandmother of Rick Cyr (Debra), Jim McIntyre (Sue), Tracy Middleton (Ted) and Robert McIntyre (Elizabeth) and proud great grandmother of Brett and Erin Cyr, Erin and Douglas McIntyre and Jack and Max Middleton. Tena was the youngest of her 5 siblings and the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Kilby) Blake. She will be fondly remembered by the many students she taught over the years. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Saturday, August 9th, 2008 from 1 to 2:45 P.M.     Purdon, Eva Jeanette (nee McIntyre) 1908 - 2005. Eva passed away peacefully at the hospital in Perth on Monday, December 12th, 2005 in her 98th year. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Annie McIntyre and was predeceased by her husband Mervil Purdon. Eva is survived by her beloved brother Jim (Tena) McIntyre, her nieces Sandra McIntyre and Brenda McIntyre and nephew Blake (Angie) McIntyre. She will be fondly remembered by her great nephews and niece, Rick (Debra) Cyr, Jim (Sue) McIntyre and Robert (Elizabeth) McIntyre and Tracy (Ted) Middleton and 5 great-great nephews and nieces.     McINTYRE, James Fee Veteran of WWII James F. (Jim) McIntyre entered into rest at the Perth Hospital on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 in his ninety-ninth year. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Tena, in 2008 and was the loving father of Sandra, Blake (Angie) and Brenda. He will be fondly remembered by his grand-children Rick Cyr (Debra), Jim McIntyre (Sue), Tracy Middleton (Ted) and Robert McIntyre (Elizabeth) and his great-grandchildren Brett and Erin Cyr, Erin and Douglas McIntyre and Jack and Max Middleton. Jim was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Annie (Gilmour) McIntyre and his sister Eva Purdon.
