An Octogenarian's Death
Mr James Simpson, one of Ramsay's oldest and most respected citizens, passed to his reward on Wednesday, after an earthly pilgrimage extending beyond the fourscore limit. He was able to walk around almost to the last, and passed away rather suddenly. The venerable frame was worn out by age. The late Mr Simpson came our from Glasgow a great many years ago, and lived the balance of his life in Ramsay.

An Old Settler's Sudden Death
The late James Simpson, whose death was announced last week, was buried in the eighth line cemetery on Friday. The funeral took place from the residence of his sister, Mrs Wm. Paul, and was well attended. Deceased, who was 81 years old, and had never known what it was to be seriously ill, ate a hearty breakfast, and said he felt better than usual. During the forenoon he was sitting beside the stove in his house enjoying a smoke, when he gave a sudden groan, fell to the floor and expired. His sister, Miss Simpson, did what she could for him, and his nephew, Mr Wm. Paul, jr., who happened along just at the right time, tenderly lifted the venerable form to a bed, but ere that was done the vital spark had fled. Deceased came from Scotland in 1831, and for over sixty years lived on his farm adjoining Wolf Grove.
