    Mather, Sadie E. - At the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth ON on Friday, April 11, 1975, Sadie E. Foster, in her 73 year, beloved wife of William A. Mather, dear mother of Arnold, Kelowna BC, Raymond, Fort St John BC; and William E.Mather, Ottawa; Dear sister Nellie Ennis, Mrs. Jessie Smith, Mrs. Violet Code, Mrs. Fannie Blair, Mrs. Gertrude Skaug, James, David and Charles Foster, the late Joseph Foster; also survived by 5 grandchildren. Funeral Service was conducted in the chapel of the Blair and Son Funeral Home, Perth, Ont. on Monday, April 14 at 2pm, Interment Elmwood Cemetery.

    Sadie E. Mather

    The many friends of Sadie E Mather were saddened to learn of her death on April 11 at the GWM Hospital from having another heart attack after recovering from her previous one in 1974.

    She was born born in Fallbrook in 1902, the daughter of Archie Foster and Fannie Gibson.

    After graduating from school she entered the employ of the Bell Telphone as operator and also worked for the Perth Shoe Co.

    In 1926 she married William A. Mather and farmed at Balderson until 1950 when they moved to Perth where he was employed as general foreman for Lanark County.

    She is survived by her husband, William A., and three sons and their families: Mr and Mrs Arnold Mather, Larry and Glenda of Calgary; Mr and Mrs Raymond Mather, Brian, Kevin and Sharon of Fort St John BC; and William E., of Ottawa.

    She took an active part in her church work as she was a life member of the UCW, a life member of the Women's Missionary Society and a member of the Balderson Women's Institute. She was the first president of Lanark Lodge Women's Auxilary.

    Besides her family, she is survived by five sisters, Mrs Nellie Ennis, Mrs Jessie Smith, Mrs Violet Code, Mrs Fannie Blair, Mrs Gertrude Skaug; three brothers, James, David, and Charles. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph who passed away in 1969.

    The funeral was conducted in Blair and Son Chapel by Rev. G Richardson and Mrs W.J. Newson sang "The Old Rugged Cross".  Heerbert Watt, Chris Bell, Lindsay Campbell, Harry McLenaghan, Lloyd Greer and Robert Richardson acted as pallbearers, with interment in Elmwood Cemetery.

    The many floral tributes and doncations to the various societies are deeple appreciated.

    Joseph Wilmer Foster

    Family oand friends were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Joseph Wilmer Foster on Monday, October 27, 1969, at his late residence, cause of death being a coronary. He was 60 years of age.

    Son of the late Archibald Foster and Frances Gibson, he was born on August, 2 1909 at the 11th line of Bathurst. He attended school on the 11th line until the age of 10 yers when he moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to the 8th line of Bathurst. Here he completed his education.

    On April 15, 1942, at the Anglican Church, Maberly, Joe was united in marriage to Eleanor Jean Warrington and to this union were born three daughters and one son.

    A lifelong resident of Bathurst, he farmed for a number of years until 1968 when he sold his farm and moved to the 8th line schoolhouse which he had purchased and converted to a home for he andhis family. At the time of his death he was employed at the H. and H.D. Card Lumber Co.

    Left to mourn his oss are his wife, three daughters, Glenice (Mrs. Budd Smith), Bathurst; Donna (Mrs Geraold Myers), Balderson; Sandra (Mrs Robert Moore), Perth, and one son, Bradford, at home. Also surviving are six sisters, Nellie (Mrs Robert Ennis), Fallbrook; Jessie (Mrs Charles Smith), New York City, NY; Violet (Mrs Calvin Code), Innisville; Sadie (Mrs. William Mather, Perth; Frances (Mrs Harold Blair), Wemyss; Gertie (Mrs Oscar Skaug), Perth; and three brothers, James, David and Charles, all of Bathurst. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

    The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, October 30 from the Morrow Funeral Home, Perth, to St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Brooke. Interment was in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Brooke. Rev. James Boyles officiated.

    Acting pallbearers were John Rogers, Stanley McDougall, Jim Rutherford, Bill Nagle, Don Card and Lloyd McVeigh.

    There were nine flowerbearers, all nephews of the deceased. They were Earl Foster, Leslie Foster, Barry Purdy, Archie Foster, Ken Blair, Doug Foster, Russell Foster, Cecil Ennis and Bill Mather.

    The large number who paid their respects at the funeral home, the numerous floral tributes, donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation and messages of sympathy received gave evidence of the great esteem in which he was held. He will be greatly missed by all those in the community and by all who knew him.

    Art passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 31st, 2010 at Almonte, Ontario, at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased in October, 2002 by his beloved wife of 52 years Joyce G. (White) and in 1979 by his son Douglas James Code.

    Dear brother of Shirley (George 'Dick') Warr of Havelock. Art will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Dawna Code of Carp, sisters-in-law Joan Skaug and Ruth James, his nieces, nephews, all his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Calvin and Violet Code and in infancy, twin brother Stanley. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Thursday, November 4th, 2010 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church, Lanark on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.

    Surrounded by the love of her family, in hospital in Kingston on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 Phyllis C. (Foster) Ashby at the age of 71 years. Daughter of the late James and Isobel (Fair) Foster. Beloved wife for almost 50 years of Ivan L. Ashby of Fallbrook. Dearly loved mother of Jeff (Carlamae) and Dawn Ashby. Cherished grandmother of Joshua and Hannah. Dear sister of Doug (late Marlene) Foster, Vivian (John) Whalen, Eric (Lorraine) and Russell (Audrey) Foster, Sharon (late Shelly) Mathison, George (Barbara) and Leslie (Freida) Foster, Brenda (Graeme) McTavish, Mary (late Don) Bradley and the late Heather and Charles who died at a young age. Phyllis will be sadly missed by the Ashby and Foster families, her nieces, nephews, friends and all those who knew her. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. E. Perth on Monday, March 11th, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held in Balderson United Church on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M.
