Residence-Occupant:
Role: Occupant
Residence:
"Iver's parents continued to live with them
Occupation:
A dray is a low, strong cart or wagon for hauling heavy loads. Iver hauled ice and delivered beer for Hams Brewing Company for 2 1/2 years.
Residence:
"Iver erected a house on his place and they all moved into it. This, however, was a mistake as the homestead laws then were that a son could live with his parents, but a father could not live with his son. This made it necessary to also build on Erick's homestead. It also became necwssary to spend some time at each place. So spring and fall became moving days for the next three years.
Residence:
Iver arrived with a breaking plow, but later added three larga oxen and a one bottom sulky plow which allowed him to sit on the plow rather than walking behind it.
Travel:
To get to Great Falls, the family took a sleigh to Killaly, stayed overnight before taking a train east to Kirkella, Manitoba. At Kirkella they caught another train west to Regina. Eddy was 6 years, Gilbert was 4 years, Henry was 6 weeks old.
Travel:
From Regina they went west to Lethbridge AB and south to Great Falls.
Occupation:
"By 1927 Iver had recovered considerably and took a loan on the land, which now had 80 acres broke, and built a barn.
