Rudy H. Carlson (official first name: Rudolph) was born in Tacoma on December 01, 1926 and raised on a small farm in Enumclaw, WA. After graduating from Enumclaw High School in 1944 he enlisted in the US Navy and was later stationed in the Pacific Theater of Operations until the end of the war and afterward his unit was part of the post-war occupation force in Japan.

Rudy was in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the US Navy during WWII and was assigned to the USS LCT(R) 1024. After the Japanese surrender, he was stationed with the post-war occupation forces in Japan from late September or early October to mid-November 1945. His navy ship was berthed in Yokosuka Harbor, the port near Tokyo, Japan. He was in the US Navy Reserves for another 6 yrs after initial discharge.

Rudy was honorably discharged from the US Navy in July 1946 and remained in the Navy reserves for the next eight years. Rudy began his studies at Seattle University in 1948 under the GI Bill. He graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Commerce Science Accounting. Rudy and his good childhood friend spent the summers from 1946-1952 working as a Tenderman on salmon fishing boats in Southeast Alaska. Rudy married in December 1950 and had three children. His family moved from Beacon Hill in Seattle to Redmond in 1964. Beginning shortly after graduation from Seattle University Rudy worked over thirty years in various cost accounting and corporate group insurance administration duties with the Boeing Co. in Renton, WA. After retirement from Boeing, he worked per-diem (part-time) for Boeing in their payroll department and later owned a small wine shop in down town Kirkland in the early 1980's. Rudy loved his home state of Washington and enjoyed the great outdoors: skiing, hunting and fishing and he was an avid Seahawks fan! Rudy passed away at his home in Redmond on July 02, 2016 at the age of 89.

Rudy once told me that one of the best things he ever did in his life was to pursue and obtain his business degree from Seattle University [where this bio was written for when a small scholarship was established by his family in his name].
